A weak appliance...hard and frustrating to use...the jaws would barely hold the cans in place. Because of this issue, the cans would not stay secured and the blade would not cut through the can. This appliance was introduced to "file 13" within a couple weeks.

The refurbished can opener only worked well for a short time then had trouble. Developed a grinding noise and kind of tilted the can. Then it stopped working. It probably lasted a year, but I wouldn't buy it again.

  • Opener only opens some cans/drops others when done
    Verified Purchase

I am very disappointed by this refurbished can opener. I have to manually open 75% of my cans. Any can with a slightly thicker lid it stops & detaches. The few is does open, there is still a big chance it will just drop it and spill, so you cant walk away. I looks great, but that is not a great reason to buy this one.

  • Don't buy it!

The exquisitely stylish can opener ceased to work after a couple of months of light duty. The internal mechanism that holds the detachable cutter bar seems to have bent or broken. Only after the fact did I consult online reviews . It seems this "deluxe" can opener has experienced the same problem with many other consumers since at least 2006. It seems to be Cuisinart has had adequate time and notice that they need to re-engineer the defective part. If they were General Motors, a massive class action suit would have been filed against the company. While Cuisinart replaced the defective unit, I was forced to pay $** S&H. Once more, the warranty is only good for time remaining. If my replacement unit is as study as the original, I will have end up paying twice for this can opener. Save yourself the hassle. There seem to be superior electric can openers on the market--even if they don't look as chic as the Cuisinart.

  • Can't really get it to work

Been so disappointed with this, that I have pulled out the manual opener again. I've only successfully opened one can with it. Opening cans shouldn't really be a difficult ;proposition. Very disappointed in the brand, as they have been excellent for me in the past.

  • Not very powerful
    Verified Purchase

If I had not purchased this as a lesser expensive reconditioned unit I would definitely have returned it. At the reconditioned price plus the use of a 10% off coupon it is alright. A little finicky, not very powerful and surprisingly poor quality of a Cuisinart, understand what you are buying before you purchase at full price. Honestly my grandmothers 19$ proctor silex works better. Cans that were hard to open by hand are hard to open with this....have to "help" it open by starting and stopping. Average cans go full around with a little hesitation but I was taken aback by the quality. Nice looking, a bit larger than I expected...why so big???? you would think this thing is so large it could tackle anything, but it looks more powerful than it is. not worth a dime over $** in my opinion.

  • What a Great Opener
    Verified Purchase

Refurbished, yes! It is exactly like the one I bought that is brand-new! I love this thing. It looked just like a brand new one, same boxing, packing, etc. The lever on mine holds well but sometimes you do have to hold the bottom of the can if it is a can that is big & weighs a lot. No big deal. This happens with the brand new ones. I do poodle rescue & have big standard poodles, often they are abused & need wet food added to gain weight. Most come with pull tap cans but I do have some that need to be opened. This is my 3rd Cuisinart opener. I have 1 in my kitchen, 1 in the grooming barn & another in the barn that holds all my dog supplies. I love this brand & only buy Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart. I love Overstock. Wonderful Customer service. ( most of the time) fast Shipping. Love their packing. With this opener, you can not go wrong, If you ever get anything that doesn't work or you find a defect, they are great to replace it.

  • What does Refurbished mean?
    Verified Purchase

I was so excited to get this can opener. But when I tried opening a large can the machine blew the electric breaker and did not hold the can. It did not ever complete the job of opening the can. I am now questioning the word "Refurbished" because clearly this machine was not just, "opened and returned". I'm guessing these can openers were dumped on O. I would ask O.com to be more clear what their meaning of REFURBISHED means. I say shame on y'all for pushing these DEFECTIVE openers on LOYAL customers!

  • opener worked for one week then quit opening cans
    Verified Purchase

Opener suddenly quit puncturing cans. If you could ever get it to puncture a can, the opener would turn on and off and would never go fully around to open a can.
