My husband and I looked online and went to several stores to find bar stools. We didn't want to spend more than $250 for a set of 2 stools. We wanted a nice stool, some style, comfortable, but not $400. I'm glad we found these. Functional: The backs stick up far enough for you to actually lean on them, but not so far that they stick up above the counter. Our breakfast bar is close to our bkfast table and we didn't want the area to look like a furniture store with chairs showing everywhere. The leather feels soft yet thick/scratch resistant. The chairs are also quite cushioned and have a decent sized seating area for larger rears. :) Style: Looking at the chairs from the back, you can see the styling and they look great. We have a traditional looking house and these add a little flavor to the room but are not soooo diff from everything else. perfect. The finish is nice, no scratches. The leather is rich in color. All is a very dark brown. Shipping/packaging: Arrived earlier than expected in a Very large box---pre-assembled. Cannot beat that! The chairs came with 2" swatches (I suppose for patching or to match to other furniture). they also came with pads for the feet. Overall: These chairs are sturdy, quality leather, stylish, and affordable. Definitely recommend. They are much better than a typical $75-$100 bar stool you'd see in popular retail stores.
In an unusual (I hope) failure of candor, Overstock does not apprise the consumer that the leather on this handsome set of counter stools is ANILINE leather, a thin grade usually utilized for CLOTHING, NOT FURNITURE. Aniline leather requires special care (which Overstock does not include) , stains more easily than furniture grade leather, and stains are much harder, often impossible, to remove. In fact, Overstock does something even worse: they muddy the issue by claiming the leather is "top grade", "protected", AND Aniline, all three of which are mutually exclusive. Just Google "leather", and any decent site will spell out the differences among these leathers. But MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE and, in this case, do NOT rely on Overstock's or the manufacturer's "Product Details". You may still want these stools--they're handsome and priced to sell. But first READ ABOUT ANILINE ("keep out of direct sunlight and at least two feet from heat source", etc, etc, etc) LEATHER!!! Whew.
Thanks to the many reviewers who came before us, we overcame our fears of ordering furniture on-line and went ahead with these stools and couldn't be happier. As part of a kitchen remodel we put in a large counter-height island for our family of six. The low-profile backs are perfect, they come just to the top of our granite but do not block sight-lines, yet are high enough to provide needed backstop for adults and our kids alike. The cappucino brown leather is very nice quality, wipes down well and seems very durable. The construction is very stable, no rocking at all. We were very impressed with how they were packed and shipped, absolutely no blemishes at all. From all the shopping around we did, these, in our opinion, are the best quality and value stools for counter-height islands that are out there.
very comfortable, fully assembled, good quality. Only thing I dont' like the height is around 36 inch. so the seat back is same high level with kitchen island counter. I got a very big kitchen island, so the stool looks a little small for the counter. If the height is 2 more inch , that will be perfect.
After watching these counter stools online for a couple of months I finally decided to take a chance and order four of them for our newly remodeled kitchen. I'm sure I read at least half of the reviews written before ordering as it's quite a bit of money to spend on something you haven't tried out before buying. The stools came within a week and were packed extremely well. They are very attractive. I love the fact that they do not hover above the counter top. One word of caution though. If you like the feel of total back support these may not be the stools for you. I'm 5'6" and the top of the backrest hits me about 3" above my waist. They are comfortable, but when leaning back you will feel the top of the backrest. They have a nice deep seat. One of the reviews I read stated that the legs were a shade of red (burgundy/mahogany). Believe it or not, they are, but you will only notice it if they are in direct sunlight. Mine actually look black most of the day since I get very little direct sunlight in the counter area. Two of the four rock due to uneven legs. I kept them because they seem fine when someone sits on them. I took the advice of another reviewer and had my husband put clear plastic wallpaper edge molding on the footrests to protect the paint.
These stools are great. I was initially skeptical of buying furniture online, especially when they aren't that cheap, however the reviews were extremely helpful in giving me confidence. These are the perfect height for my 36 inch high kitchen island. The quality of the leather is exactly what I expected and there were no surprises. Highly recommended and, given other stools I've seen while shopping around, a pretty good value.
I really like the look of the barstool. It looks very sleek. Just an FYI the seat is brown leather but the legs are black. I was surprised at that...I thought both were brown. Also, we had one barstool break after one week. However, we have small kids and they step on the bottom part to get up in the chair and the bottom part broke. It appears it is just glued rather than bolted. I would not recommend this barstool if you have small children.
We shopped around our local furniture stores for 4 counter stools for our kitchen island. I sat on many very nice stools but most delivery times were 4 -6 weeks. We wanted something quicker but they still needed to be high quality. We found these on Overstock and were a little worried about making the purchase because we couldn't actually sit in them. The reviews were mixed but mostly positive so we took a chance. Glad we did because they look gorgeous in our kitchen. They seem very solid which was very important to me. I've read different comments about the color of the legs. The leather is dark brown, as shown, and the legs on my stools are a mahogany or dark cherry stain. They look very good and couldn't be happier.
I, like a lot of other people, was hesitant to order furniture online but I was desperate for barstools and after a 14 month search finally gave in and ordered these. They arrived today in perfect condition and fully assembled! They look exactly like the pictures on line. I love the low back and the contemporary feel to them. They are so comfortable! Been working at my kitchen counter all day and am loving these! I love the seat height at 26"! So hard to find...24 too low, 28 too high...these are just right. The legs are definitely a reddish brown but against our brown hardwood floors, you don't even notice the difference. The price is a steal! I wish I had the crème to compare to, because I was torn between the 2 colors but, the brown will be fine. Don't hesitate to order these.
This are good chairs for the price, I bought them for the first time about 4 years ago, and now I bought replacement, not because of the quality of the chairs, but all the scratches done by my Bengal cat and chews of Parrot living in my house. The new counter stools are little bit lighter shade of brown and I'm not sure if they are made from real leather or bonded kind. They look good at my kitchen counter, but are not as comfortable as the previous chairs. The wooden legs are deep reddish brown, which is different than brown tone of the upholstery, but it is not an issue. I spent tone of time unwrapping them...each leg was covered with protective material so there was no scratches on the paint. I'm happy with them and you should be to. An update...beware! after 1 year of use all the upholstery on the chairs start cracking and blistering, not a leather like it is advertised, but some cheap imitation! I had those chairs before and they were real leather, I'm rally disappointed, for the price they should last much longer.
We have been using our bar stools now for about a month. They came packed extremely well. No damage and already assembled ;-) We are very pleased with how comfortable they are. The low back helps them to complement the seating area but not overpower it. Someone had commented that the foot bar across the front was not wearing well and getting scratched. My husband went to the big box store and bought a 3ft. piece of clear plastic wall guard corner protectors that comes in 3/4" width. lHe cut a piece to the exact length needed then used very small finishing nails to tack down each end of the strip. We have wonderful protection from our shoes, and the strip is clear so it isn't even noticable. Just make sure you use VERY small finishing nails so you don't split the wood when you tap them in. We get many compliments on how sleek the stools look. We are very satisfied.
I was skeptical about ordering these chairs unseen, but, one or two of the reviews had high praise for them. I bought them for my recently finished basement bar and they are the perfect height. The colors are great, dark brown (chocolate) leather seats with black frame. The chair is very sturdy and well built and they are comfortable to sit on, especially with the back They were very carefully packaged and each and everyone of them arrived in very good condition. We actually liked them so much that I ordered more to replace the kitchen stools around our peninsula!
I thought these chairs were 30 inches high for Some Reason so when I received them they were too short for the table I bought. Likely I found a 37 inch high table at ikea to match. Now the black and brown combo look great. Chairs are perfect heighth and comfortable to sit on for extended periods of time. Also the delivery to my doorstep was faster than expected
Very nice looking dark brown leather bar stools. Quality much better than I expected. No set up required. Would order again.
The bar stools are perfect...just what we were looking for...Especially for the Great Price! The seat and backs are the right height. The backs are a little higher than our counter top. We can use the counter with ease and the chair backs are not in the way. Quality seems to be very good but have only had them a few weeks. We ordered one set to see if we liked them...they were packed very well and we were very pleased with them. We ordered another set to complete our kitchen bar. If I had to suggest something that might be a negative...it would be that the wood bar (where your feet rests) needs something protecting it from getting scratched/worn...I am looking for a thin metal plate to fit over the foot-bar rest to protect the wood... It is a minor issue that would not keep me from recommending them. They are great. We would highly recommend the bar stools.
I bought 2 sets of these (so 4 barstools) even though I only needed 3 for my space. Initially they were GREAT. They are extremely comfortable, very nice-looking, and went great with my decor. After a year or two, one of the stools cracked and peeled so badly that I had to switch it out with my 1 remaining spare I'd put in storage since only 3 stools will fit at my bar. After another few months, another one was getting pretty bad. We soon moved into a new house with only room for 2 stools at my new bar, so I was again able to put the cracked and peeling stools in storage and just use the 2 nicest looking ones. I've had the stools for perhaps 5 years total now, and the two that I have remaining, I expect to last for maybe another year or so before they have to be completely retired as well, and at that point I'll just throw out all of them and buy a whole new set that is real leather and not BONDED LEATHER. This item's description is very misleading - it says it is real / genuine leather with a thin layer of polyurethane - well, guess what, that's BONDED LEATHER by definition!! Some other reviewers have even complimented these stools as being great because they are not made from bonded leather, but they *are*! I would almost give these a 2-3* review just because they are nice initially and they do hold up somewhat well, but if you're looking for something to last more than the 2-6 years I've gotten from them, look elsewhere. I have a *real* (whole-hide) leather couch that paid a pretty penny for from *** ago and it still looks and sits great. When I bought these barstools thinking that they were genuine leather, I was hoping to get maybe 10 years out of them, but alas, no luck.
Was a little nervous about ordering because my first time on overstock.com, but reviews seemed so good I didn't want to pass these up. Certainly glad I went through with the order. I ordered 4 of these chairs. The chairs come fully assembled and I set them up by my counter in less than 10 minutes. The packaging of the chairs was done very well. One chair has a very small area of chipped stain at one of the leg joints that needs a little stain added, but was the only problem found and I don't believe this was from the shipping. My husband and I love the look of the chairs and they are very comfortable so far. Love, love, love the lower backs because they do not obstruct my view and they are easy to reach over. Would definitely recommend these chairs! Update. After about 7 years the leather bonding just started to peel off. Now it constantly sheds small pieces of dark brown material. They are comfortable and otherwise held up well, but the "leather" is very disappointing.
I ordered and received 2 of these chairs about a year ago and I love them. The lower backs provide a clear view over our island which is situated in the middle of our large kitchen. The chairs are comfortable and sheik. I had upholstered chairs prior to these - the back of the upholstered chairs discolored a little from the oils in hands - even after professional cleaning - but these leather chairs will last and always look good.
I bought these for a kitchen island and they are great. What I like about them are the following:1. Lightweight (so you can move them in and out easily)2. Low backs -- they visually look nice and not obtrusive'3. Quality -- leather is very nice quality, and easy to clean.Only thing I was concerned about is that they are a little "deep" in the seat (we have 12" under counter, so they cannot be pushed flush against counter) -- but its only a couple of inches and everything else about them is great.Overall very pleased and going to order another set!
Very nice quality! Beautiful dark brown leather with very dark brown wood. I was worried about the color of the wood stain (that it would be too light), but it matched our basement cabinetry perfectly! For reference, the stain color of our cabinets is called peppercorn. 10 years on - they still look great!
