When I ordered them they looked cheap and I had planned on changing out the lamp shades but after I put them up they look fantastic and add so much light and openness to a small bedroom. The shade has a lot of texture to it which looks expensive and distributes the light up and down to fill up the room. I understand where other people are coming from in how the sconces tip a little, but if you screw everything in well and bend the brackets of the shade a little you can't tell. They were not easy to put together but were manageable. It probably took me two + hours in total. Some tips: THE CORD! Was so hard to figure out. What you need to do is lay the end of the cord on top of the two pincers wide side down. So the lines of the cord should be parallel to the top and bottom of the plug. Then push down on the cord so the pincers dig into it (I used some pliers for this). Then slide the guard over it all to lock it in. You can try just sliding the guard but it might bend a pincer thing. When putting on the tubing on the cord make sure to take the little nob off the bottom of the sconce base or it won't screw in all the way. And put the threads on separately to make it easy slide the cord in. All the tubing has little plastic pieces on it that you should take off. The thread glue and the screws to hold the cord down are unecessary. I wouldn't and didn't bother. Maneuver the sconce to the position you want it in before you put it on. It doesn't bend well.

I love this lamp. I already had one very similar I had purchased from this site a few years ago. I have that one above my bed. I needed something near my computer, which is also in my bedroom. This one matches the other very well and my bedroom looks great. Just what I needed.

Although the metal work is nice looking, over all this was a bit of a disappointment due to the poor production quality. This was one of those you get what you pay for buys, which should be the tag line of all the on-line discount home decor retailers. I'm really getting to the point I don't buy anything online but straightforward products (appliances, etc) because it's such a gamble over whether the look/quality match the pretty pictures. There are no quality standards any more for these types of products at this price point. So many things just break, snap off, chinz out in short order, and sometimes, like my experience with both of the two of these lamps I bought are like this when you open the box when, which is most exasperating of all. Live and learn. Anyway, bought two for my office/den and both have a slip-shod production/design problem. One, I went to screw on the lampshade with the little ball finale and the bolt/bracket that the shade rests on and attaches to via the bolt finale just snapped off with no excessive or unusual force, obviously due to a sub-par soldering job. So I had to run to the hardware store to figure out how to glue metal to metal and deal with that. I actually looked at other lamps in my house and the brackets aren't soldered together, the bracket is made to cradle the underside of the harp so it's a solid, no-fail attachment. The manufacturer obviously cheaped out on this. The other lamp, the outer half of the metal arm is bent so it dosn't line up or square with the inner half that attaches to the wall plate, and so the lamp leans down and is not square with the rest of the room, the couch, etc. Like a crooked picture on the wall. Tacky. Then the shade. You can actually see the bulb through it a bit due to the whispy (chinzy) fabric. I did look at the picture again and you can kind of see it which I hadn't noticed initially, but it's much more pronounced then it appears on-line. Cheapy. Also the shade is not a warm white, but more stark, and IMO doesn't look great during the day when it's off or at night when it is. I realize that the whiteness might be a matter of taste, but it appears less stark on-line, and I've never seen a shade where you could see the silhouette of the light bulb inside. [edit: just wrote the review 2 hours ago and discovered another issue...the two lampshades don't match...one is textural, which I actually like and is more warm/off-white and doesn't have the visible light bulb issue...uhg.] So now I'm going out to buy new shades. That is if the glue the hardware store said would fuse the two aforementioned pieces that snapped apart actually works (supposed to wait 14 hours). If that fails, I guess I can buy some new harps to attach. uhg. Just not my idea of good buying a new lamp experience. So, the new shades, maybe new harps, the glue...the time spent correcting issues, I could have gone to Crate & Barell and gotten the something similar for just a bit more money, much better quality, and a lot less grief. Not what I needed while trying to get my house ready for family for the holidays. Would return but I bought them over a year ago. You get what you pay for. Live and learn.

Cons: A lot of assembly with this item and the swinging which came assembled has a crooked hinge so it doesn't hold the lamp straight. Pros: Looks nice, puts off a lot of light which is great

So far, this is a disappointing choice. Pin-up/Plug-in? That means, take it out of the box, hang it, plug it in and turn it on. NOT THIS LAMP!!! I see lots of pieces and the plug is not connected to the cord??? No electricians here; the hubs will try to figure it out. Not a happy challenge. This is the first time that an on-line purchase has me thinking of going back to Brick and Mortar shopping. So disappointed in O!

The Laurel Creek Weston swing arm lamp has beautiful lines, however, its flawed construction ruins the final effect. Other reviewers have already mentioned this major problem: the backplate is not tightly secured to the wall which results in the whole lamp and arm sagging and tilting downward away from the wall. I put in a shim on the bottom of the backplate but the lamp still looks cockeyed.

I agree with many other reviewers. This could have been engineered just bit to make the wall plate stay in place under the weight of the lamp on the swing arm. Love the texture of the shade. Purchased two and they went up easily.

    • I thought it would be more adjustable
      Verified Purchase

It does not swing to either side like imagined it eould.

    • just like the other reviews...a bit wonky
      Verified Purchase

many reviewers noted these things and I agree. somewhat difficult to put together base tends to pull out from the wall (we ended up using better anchors than those provided) takes some adjustment to look straight I still ordered knowing I would be able to handle the extra work and adjustments. They look great on either side of my bed.

    • Seem nice
      Verified Purchase

Easy to assemble, but they don't hang flush with the wall. They sag a bit on the top so you have to get creative with making it APPEAR level, but I would still order them.

Decent product, works well next to a reading nook.

Very easy to install and great directions. My only complaint would be that the finish is not as “antique bronze”. More of a brown finish. Probably being picky and definitely not objectionable enough to return. But loved that they were easy to put up. Room still a work in progress but on my way.

These lamps are very pretty in person. The shades look cheap. That’s the only reason for the four stars. Assembly and mounting was pretty straight forward.

I got this for s smaller bedroom that doesn't have room for an additional nightstand. It accommodates reading in bed very well. We did have an issue with the mounting bracket; the lamp won't lay quite flat against the wall. We ended up putting rubber washers over the attachment bolts behind the wall housing to keep the lamp from wobbling.
