This is my kitchen: have gone through a lot of different hot plates. This is the best. Hottest temps, good control, steady heat, variety between the two burners. Only problem is the red light that stays on if it's plugged in. I guess good for safety, but annoying at night.
So far, this odd little burner has fulfilled its purpose in my kitchen. Recently purchased induction burners from Overstock (Fagor), which are super, did not work with my pressure cooker and a few other beloved pots (they're not magnetic) so the little old-fashioned coil burner works perfectly to fill in the gap.
I bought 2 for my father-in-law for Father's Day and he hasn't stopped finding reasons to use them since. He absolutely loves them. The reason we got two was so he could have the surface space to scramble eggs on one and fry bacon on the other. The models with side by side burners are too close together and if one unit burns out, you'd be stuck with a large appliance that only works on one side. He loves the temperature control and auto shut off safety feature
