I have been looking for this type of miter saw; without the plastic that the saw cuts through. It has a metal base and the base is designed such that the saw never touches the metal. I had a couple of cuts to make and it did a great job. The clamps are handy to keep the project in place. For someone who uses a miter occasionally, this is the practical alternative to a more expensive electric one.

I live in an apartment, no space for permanent setup. I can clamp this to a counter and get very accurate cuts. I like doing things around the house but not that good at it -- having a tool like this helps big time. A perfect solution when the electric saws are too big and too expensive.

Saw is well constructed with inferior materials. The tighning bolt for the saw blade arrived broken (too much tension). then pivot lever broke why trying to swing blade. All is fixable with better parts or just live withit. Cuts very accurate and easy. much better saw than the other Stanley I own, but the stanley doesn't have broken parts. for *** it is a great saw.

  • this thing really works

This thing really works. When I took it out ofthe box, there wasn't very much to do to put it together. My first cut was to trim a 1 1/4" dowel and it was right on 90 degrees without having to tweakanything. The blade cut smooth and easy. There isn't any flex with the metal base and it just feel right when you make a cut. I've never used this brand before, but if their other tools are this good, I'll buy some more

I have used it and its getting the job done for me, I wish there was a way to order replacement blades, mine is getting dull and needs replacing soon .... I dont want to have to purchase a new complete saw, when the blades is clearly replacable..

  • good tool
    Verified Purchase

This is a decent tool for the money. It is just a bit flimsy in construction and the design is not the best for its function but it does what it says it can do with a reasonably good result. Not right for a production shop, but fine for occasional home use.
