This mattress never expanded to 10 inches. Although it is very comfortable to sleep on it is falsely advertised to be a 10 inch when it only is an 8 inch.

i was actually worried about the smell factor that ppl have mentioned but in reality, that's the least of it's problems... it never "inflated" to anything... all 4 corners are drawn down and it's been over 3 months since i opened it up there are ripples where the bed had been "folded" for transport... the warranty is so convoluted and exacting that there is no way i have the time to send back the indentations from me and my husband's bodies are so permanent that we basically have our own "compartments" in bed i heard these were better than the conventional mattress but my experience has not proven so. i chose this because it was middle of the road in terms of price and i wanted to try it out. thank god i didn't spend more $$$ if you are interested, THIS option is NOT a good one... in fact, i might avoid beds from The O in the future

If you want a 10" memory foam mattress, then you'll have to purcahse a 12". This mattress (after the 48 hours it took for it to take form) is actually only 8 inchs. The description claims it has 4" of base foam, 3" of support foam, and another 3" of ventilated green tea memory foam on top. It has the 4" base, 3" support, but only 1" of memory on top. Didn't return the item because it would be to much of a hassle since Overstock wont take back items already opened. I pretty sure I couln't get the mattress back in the box it came in anyways. This mattress looks nothing like the picture in the description. I guess you get what you pay for.

  • Well constructed but way too hard for my liking.

This mattress is as hard as a rock. I slept on it for over a week and it just didn't ease up at all and I had to buy a mattress topper to go on top of it for an additional investment which really annoyed me. For memory foam this mattress is way too hard in my opinion. It's a shame, it's very well constructed and it looks like a real mattress once it finally does totally open up. I would say it takes a good 3 days for everything to soften up...day 1 and 2 this mattress was like cement. Day 3 I finally could feel a little bit of a sink, but I can only describe it as sinking into hard molding clay, and saying 'sinking' is probably overly generous...I probably put a slight depression in it. After sleeping on it for days, I couldn't take it anymore and ordered a topper. I am not a lightweight person, so I know it is not that I was too skinny to sink :-). I didn't actually measure it but it did seem to puff up to the 10". I purchased an accu-gold memory foam mattress before this one for another bed in the house, and that one is so much more comfortable. I should have spent the extra money and gotten that one in the queen. Lesson learned. Off gassing on this one is not quite as bad as the accu-gold. I have 2 mattress pads on this and I can still smell it a week and a 1/2 later. It's not totally horrible, it's just as expected for the most part.

This is an overall great product. It is firm without feeling like you are on a cement block & soft and comfortable. A great matress. I had a temerpedic which cost over $$$$, but I found this mattress to be just as good & the price cannot be beat!

  • One year later!!

So it has been a full year and cannot find any fault with the product. Firm yet comfortable... just like the last one (yes, the first one is now two years old). So, I have ordered another so there will be three Queen size beds in the house before the end of the week. Love the rest I get and actually looked forward to going to bed the first month I had it... Guess I still do. Only difference this time is that I am putting the new arrival on a Durabed Queen Platform bed... which I am happy with the quality and ease of setup. Worth the price to me, and believe my guests will be satisfied with it as well. I cannot say it will make everyone happy, but three beds later.... it did me. Merry Christmas to all !!

Thought it came with handles, part of the reason I bought it. Sister has memory foam bed, its a pain to move and very heavy. Took a few days to get used to, but its breaking in very nicely. I really like the fact that it has rounded edges and looks like a mattress in stead of cut foam.
