This chandelier is beautiful and matches exactly the look that my husband and I were going for. We hung it over our farmhouse style table. We have a high slanted ceiling in our dining room but it works wonderfully. The fixture comes with multiple rods which makes it easy to choose a length. We noticed that the design even allows for additional chain to be added at the top if necessary (even though we didn't need to). I'd say it's a great value for the price. It is very heavy, so it's important to make sure that you have the proper support. Overall, we love it.
Love this light, it's perfect for my foyer, which measures 5 1/2' x 10' with a ceiling height of 16',. It was well packaged, came quickly, and was just what I was looking for to fill that space above my door. Good quality. VERY Happy with my purchase!!!
WOW. Pot Barn can go suck a rotten egg. This is better than their "Hack"ston pendant light. You won't regret this buy. We had it professionally installed and it was easy. It took about an hour. Keep the bubble wrap on and more if you have it. Set up a stand of wood and clamps between two ladders to insert all globes and adjust the lengths of the cords beforehand to save electrician costs. We have 10 foot ceilings and we set the first globe at 52" and went from there. It is a CLEAR smokey kind of glass. Crystal clear- just beautiful. We put edison bulbs of three different shapes in the bulbs for interest and it is definitely not your average look. Looks very high end. I can recommend this and I dont do that often.
This light is in our guest bedroom which has 8 foot ceilings. I wanted flush mount, lots of light and something leaps more chic. Yes you do have to assemble the crystals- which takes some glasses, light and an hour. (I know this because I started and finished with the Ellen Show) Put together it looks just like we took it off an expensive showroom ceiling. It holds enough of a traditional feel but gives this amazing modern twist. It's so nice and bright. I put 4 60w reveal light bulbs in and even my husband was saying WOW. (that says something ladies) Definitely picking up a dimmer for this because it's that bright. The material around the cover isn't so much a material as a thinly spaced string. It sounds odd but creates a nice effect on the ceiling along with all of the crystals. Love it!
The light does take two people to install. First I put the crystals on. I left the plastic on the material of the shade and gently took off after installing to avoid messing up the material during instal. Directions are bad- so the one crystal that is already together in the bag goes on the center point of the light. The rest are identical and go on any of the loops on the mirror like base. Also It does matter which end of the wire the Crystals attach to so pay attention to that. Tip: try not to pull apart the round rings that attach the crystals too much. I got lazy and was separating them too much. After the light was up I had a few crystals to reattach. I could have avoided that by just pushing the rings back together more instead of relying on the gap to hold the crystal in place. Once my hubby had the ceiling ready I held the light up while he put the ground / wires on. This is a little tricky with all of the crystals but not overwhelming. This is also when I was thankful to have the plastic on the light since that is exactly where I held the light. Fishing for the two screws that fit into the new light was the most difficult part, but somehow I got lucky. Hubby held the light in place while I screwed on the round silver knobs that hold the light to the ceiling mount. The total time : was one hour to attach crystals and 15 min to mount.
We looked on many websites to find the perfect light fixture for our great room with 16' ceiling. This one seemed to be the perfect choice. It arrived in excellent condition. My husband installed it and it looks great. So glad we found this.
Pros: Looks exactly how it looks in the site pictures. We love it! It's beautiful and have gotten many compliments on it. It looks much more expensive that what it cost here. It's the perfect size for our 6-8 dinner table. Yes it took us time to put all the crystals together. My tip: Spend time first attaching the metal hooks in batches (or maybe 1 person attaches them to the crystals while the 2nd person hangs them). My husband and I did them all in around 1 hour. Several crystals fell hard on the floor and none broke. I was amazed they didn't break, they are made of a very tough material. Only needed 6 small bulbs, we used 2 only or 4. As we prefer a dimmed, soft look. Fabulous! :) Looks elegant, with a touch of contemporary, romantic and just different. Beautiful.
Cons: For someone who does not have a 2nd person to help, it may take you around 1.5 hours to hang all the crystals. That;s pretty much all the cons i could come up with, I am so in love with it!
We put some jazz, took out the wine and i attached the hooks while he hung them. It was a nice time spent. You won't regret purchasing this. It's my 1st purchase in overstock and this was an A Plus for me. Will buy again.
Looked all over for a chandelier for our foyer area and finally found this one. Great quality and perfect price. My husband had to add a ceiling medallion only because the canopy was not large enough to go over the ceiling opening.
The color of the glass in the photo looks to be silver/gray, but actually it's more of an auburn. When hanging the light you'll either want to have the glass wrapped in something to keep them from clanking together and possibly breaking, or have a second person to hold them apart. Pay attention to the screws at the top and bottom of the ropes so you have them facing away from view if that's possible in your light's location. The ropes are plenty long for higher ceilings. We had to cut quite a bit off of them to get them to fit up into our 8 foot ceiling.
Light fixture is good size for over a table. The color black-ish with some brown. Darker than oil-rubbed. It blends nicely between blacks, browns and espresso.
I have no idea why the listing is so confusion on dimensions. Here is the skinny:
-The largest circle is 19" diameter.
-The box includes (4) 12" hanging rods, plus a 6" rod. They just screw together so you can use any combination for desired height. I have a 9' ceiling and only needed two of the rods.
-Ceiling mounting plate has a swivel detail so your ceiling doesn't need to be flat.
-Only real assembly is attaching the hanging rods. Simple light to hang.
-Edison bulbs are a very warm color and do give a yellow hue.
I love, love love this look in my dining room. As everyone else said, you must put the beads on but that wasn't difficult at all. Beads are very light. I figured I could stain them if I want them darker but right now they are perfect. Nice long chain..
Where chandeliers are concerned, I feel less if more, but wanted to update my bedroom. Happen to like leaves and this piece has gentle leaves placed throughout and a few beautiful crystals. The packaging was most impressive as it was delivered in a metal cage - an actual cage so that the leaves or crystals wouldn't get damaged. That by itself rates 5 stars! It's not installed yet, but feel certain it's going to look stunning without going overboard.
This is a very gorgeous light fixture and it is so pretty when the light hits it and it sparkles. I was afraid it might look cheap, but I purchased it anyway and I'm glad I took the chance! It does not look cheap at all. It is a very nice product. The installation was a little tricky, definitely a two person job. And some assembly is required. Mine did not come with any directions but we were able to figure it out. I looked everywhere for the light bulbs and was having trouble finding them, I ended up buying mine from Home Depot. Any candelabra based LED light bulbs will work. They recommend the 60 watt bulbs but that was WAY too bright; I exchanged the 60 watt bulbs and got 25 watt and they are perfect. I'm very happy with my purchase! I would recommend this to others :)
This advice will hopefully be helpful to the next person who installs this. The crystals are all organized in packets, and the "item number" section in the direction box corresponds to each packet of crystals. Where the crystals are located on the chandelier is shown on the diagram below the "item section" box. Once you realize that, it's pretty easy to match the crystal packets with the numbers, after you count all the pieces (don't mix them up, as that'll be more confusing).
THERE IS AN ERROR in the instructions diagram, which is annoying, because it's already not easy to follow. The error is in the 6-7 region where it shows crystals hanging where the light should be. Obviously you can't hang crystals where the light goes. Those sets of crystals ( the mini 2-piece crystals that act as a hanging chain for the larger teardrops that are packaged with it) hang on the outermost swirls directly lateral to the light bulb area. In the diagram, there are no crystals hanging on those swirls, so you'll know where you're supposed to hang them, if you can see the only swirls in the diagram that are empty and closest to the bulb area. You can also somewhat see it in the photo online (here), but it's very hard to distinguish between crystals, as they mostly look like a large mass. Hopefully that makes sense.
My only constructive criticism for Overstock.com would be for an english speaker to re-write these instructions, for the error to be removed and for the directions to be more thorough. Other than that, it's a lovely chandelier once you can figure out how to put it together. It's not impossible! I looked at the picture online & studied the one-page instructions until I figured it out. Of course, it helps to count the holes on the chandelier too. If a girl can do it, YOU can do it too. :)
The reviews on Overstock.com are very accurate and I have learned that first hand. I ordered this chandelier for my dining room. When you first pull it out of the box, it looks incredibly cheap and flimsy, but when you put it together it is absolutely gorgeous. It looks very expensive, upscale and luxurious. HOWEVER, putting the light together was complete and utter torture. All of the reviews I read said that it would take about 2 hours to assemble the fixture (that does NOT include hanging the fixture). THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. The instructions are NOT user friendly whatsoever and the parts are NOT marked. You really have to go by the picture on the website to assemble this. I gave it 4 stars because assembly was just painstaking, but when it is assembled, it looks fantastic. The pain was SO WORTH IT!! This fixture is AWESOME, but don't go into this thinking that you will be done in 30 minutes. I will ALWAYS believe the reviews on here. They are incredibly accurate. BELIEVE THIS REVIEW. :-)
Love this light fixture, 3 60 watt bulbs illuminate the dinner table very well, hand crafted wood valances are belt around an iron frame and deflect the light away from your eyes. I converted this fixture to hang from a hook with a swag kit I bought elsewhere. The threaded hanging loop or adapter came with the fixture. Out of the box it comes with down rods in various lengths to hang at several fixed distances from the ceiling. This works well for rooms with and overhead electrical box.
This chandelier is absolutely beautiful! It really does look much more expensive than the picture shows. The crystals are very good quality (not cheap clear plastic), and it is so elegant that it can go in any room of the home. I have just renovated a small kitchen, and knocked out a wall to make it 23 feet long. After our makeover was almost complete, I struggled tying to find elegant kitchen lighting to go over our new 10 foot granite island, and could not find anything. I took a chance based on the reviews, and I must say I am NOT disappointed. I bought two to hang over our island and FYI - the shade IS white, but it is semi sheer, giving it just a very subtle hue of silver. Also, unless you have never seen a real chandelier, putting on the crystals is a no brainer, and if you get stuck, just zoom in on the picture. Overall, you will not find a better quality chandelier at this great price.
I literally sat and stared at these once I had them up. Literally. They are fantastic! I was a little worried about the quality because the price seemed so cheap for the product but it was all for nothing. I saw that some people had to put the crystals on and thank goodness mine came completely assembled. Just for that I'd give 5 stars!! :o)
I have one in my entryway (which is on the smaller side) and another in my long hallway. They add just the right amount of fabulousness without being overbearing. They also put off fantastic light and sparkle, I couldn't be happier.
***If you want a more modern look go with the small round bulbs and not the candle flame looking ones. It makes a more definitive modern statement and I love the way they look with the chandeliers***
We love this chandelier, but... give yourself AT LEAST 3 hours to unpack and assemble. EACH piece of crystal is wrapped in plastic saran wrap in addition to also being sealed in molded styrofoam. Seriously, overkill. You know how hard it is to find the edge on a roll of saran wrap? Do that 200 times (if each piece of crystal takes up to a minute to remove) and then do the math. That's 2.5 hours so far. The assembly of the fixture itself is quite easy, and is a welcome relief after the repetitive efforts of the former. We installed it ourselves and added a dimmer for nice variety. One thing to be aware of is that on full brightness, the crystals in their current configuration create a striped effect on the walls - if you like that, it's just fine. Quality of item was solid and well made.
Review update as of 09/12/16 - The light fixture is still amazing! I get so many compliments on how it looks. I love this item in my home! Absolutely amazing! *** This light looks so unbelievably beautiful now that I have it up in my dining room. It took me a while to get started on hanging this fixture, but once I got it up, I am utterly speechless at how beautiful it is. Yes, it can be a little more challenging than expected. Especially with getting the wire lengths just right. But once I figured out the grove of things, it went quickly. Here are a few hints that might help you through the task of instillation. Hint 1 – There are tiny little tightening slots on the side of the knobs where the wire enters the plate housing. Use a small slotted screw driver to loosen these holders to make moving the wires in and out of the fixture easier. Hint 2 – go ahead and disassemble the entire fixture. Take the wires completely off of the housing plate and do a dry run mounting of the ceiling plate to the nipple coming out of the ceiling. This will ensure you have enough of the nipple hanging down to screw on the finial. Hint 3 – Lay the fixture on the ground to make the wire length adjustments. Then do a dry run by holding the fixture up on the ceiling prior to making any excess wire cuts. This will ensure the fixture hangs the way you want it in your space. Final hint – This is a 2 man job. You will need someone to hold the fixture while you connect all of the power wires; and trust me, there are a lot of them. – But all in all, it is WELL, WELL, WELL, worth it. I find myself walking into the room just to stare at the light. It’s that beautiful.
After reading all the previous reviews I was ready and prepared to work an average of 2 hours on setting this lighting fixture up but no, it took me all of 30 minutes because of all your comments. I knew what to expect. This is one of the most beautiful items I have purchased online! It is hanging in my dining room and it was just hung today. I have had folks drive by my house and knock on my door and ask about it. I really don't want to tell them where I got it because I don't want everyone to have it because it is special :-) It is so beautiful in my room. I wish we can share pictures of all of our room transformations! Thank you O!
This chandelier is gorgeous! A few tips for assembling it. First, get an over-the-door clothes hanger and use the security wire and hang the chandelier on it before assembling. Second, attach the arms but do not fully tighten them until you thread the crystals. It helps to move the arms around. Third, start from the inside to the outside to thread the crystals. Fourth, hang the chandelier, then tighten the arms--be careful not to strip the screws...just tighten enough to catch, then attach the base. The chandelier is heavy, so it's almost impossible to assemble and thread the crystals if it is laying down on something instead of hanging. The crystals will break off from the weight. Thought I would pass on these tips for an easier installation. It is really, really gorgeous. You will love the end result.
I bought this chandelier for the living room in our new apartment.
Overall, we are very happy with our purchase... But there are some things I would like to point out that should be taken into consideration before purchasing this product:
1) The quality of the paint coating on this chandelier is a 7 of 10, therefor is highly vulnerable to knicks and scratches while installing, so handle with care.
2) The chain by which it hangs is about 7 feet long, so if you have a standard apartment like me, your ceiling will be 9-11 feet high. I had to discard the chain altogether and hang it directly from the ceiling.
3) The Edison bulbs look amazing when turned on, but if you're looking for a chandelier that gives out a ton of light, this is definitely not the way to go. I would give it a 5 of 10 rating on actual light emitted. Good thing we have two table lamps in the living room that provide additional lighting.
I hope this helps.... Happy shopping!
I personally LOVE the look of these pendant lights in my kitchen. They were a little larger than I was thinking which is why we staggered them but think that adds to the look. They don't give off as much light as I would have liked but I have gotten used to it now and am very happy with the look/results/pendants.
I bought these to go with a black chandelier I bought here on Overstock. They match perfectly. My ceilings are very high so we did go to *** to buy lamp wire and black chain to extend for my high ceilings. I happened to hang these during remodel so my awesome contractor did all the work for me. Personally I LOVE that there isn't glass in these. Placed where they are I have no way to reach them and hated the filthy glass of what I replaced. When I received they looked big and worried a bit if they were too big but once hung all worries gone. They also give off great light.
If you've been searching for a chandelier that makes a statement - this is it! Wow, what a gorgeous piece! It comes fully wired, all you need to do is hook it up to your ceiling, put the lights in (uses the candelabra type bulbs - I used LED "vintage edison style" and they look great) and screw on the glass covers. You are guaranteed to get lots of compliments! Similar chandeliers cost more than double at any store. Thank you Overstock for a great service and a very quick shipping!
I can't say enough of how much I like my two mini crystal chandeliers. I used clear bulbs (ecoSmart 72 watts and on a dimmable switch. The selling information says 60 watt is recommended but I read somewhere that 75 watt works too. I've had them up for a few months and I've had no problems). These were the perfect size and scale for over my smallish kitchen island. The lights arrived as planned and I had to assemble them myself. Looking at the online pic while assembling the crystals was very helpful and that is the only time consuming task involved (well worth it). The price was great too and I shopped around to be sure I was getting the best deal! The color is a beautiful flat matte brozne/brown. Love them!
This looks a lot better in person than it does in the picture on overstock.com. It looks giganto in the pics, but it's actually really petite and pretty. Yes, assembly is a little bit of a pain. The 22 links of 5 crystals go in the center hanging straight down. The links of 4 crystals go around the top, the links of 8 crystals go in the 2nd and 3rd rows, and the links of 5 crystals go on the bottom row. The long crystals hang from the fleur de lis, and the large ball goes at the bottom obviously. Now I feel I have done my service to humanity. :) Very nice sparkly addition to any room!
I've got this chandelier for my new master bathroom. My husband installed this above the bath tub in order to give a bit of sparkle. It is a small piece but gives enough feminine touch and made both of us happy.
This is a gorgeous light fixture that sparkles all over my house. I used clear small round incandescent bulbs inside so they disappear when the light is turned off. It was easy to hang and install. I'm an interior designer, and have recommended this piece to clients also.
Once this light is up you'll forget about the process of assembling/ installing it! It's absolutely stunning, and photos here don't do it enough justice! We read the reviews carefully before purchasing, and they were right- there are a few fiddly things you need to do to make the chandelier installation go smoothly. Here are my tips:
-I discovered a way to deal with the black electric cord: silver model paint. Get a little brush and vial of Testor or other model paint at your local craft store. A LOT easier and cheaper than replacing it yourself or paying someone else to! Wait until AFTER installation and the cord is woven through the chain. Since the cord is bendable, the paint will flake off if you move it around. Carefully paint the exposed black areas. Voila!
-The mounting cup is smaller than most US light electrical boxes. No biggie. Get a ceiling light medallion at your local big box home store.
Painters caulk will stick the medallion to the ceiling nicely.
I did this myself and completed the installation (after getting the above items) in less than 2 hours. The most time consuming part was attaching all the glass crystals and beads- but even that was kinda fun. You won't regret any of these detours above once you are looking at this amazing chandelier! Good luck.
I love this addition to my dining room. However, I didn't read the description carefully enough that bulbs were not included. After a trip to the hardware store to buy bulbs at *** a piece, we were ready to go. My husband installed it himself.
We purchased 2 of these chandeliers for our eat-in kitchen and our dining room. I wasn't sure how they would look, but they are perfect. The house is a Cottswold Cottage style and has both Gothic and Victorian influences. I wanted to reference these styles but have something up to date. The leather straps and the mix of brass and oil-rubbed brass is perfect. A little bit steampunk, but not overwhelming. Lots of compliments and "oohs" and "aahs".
I must admit when I first opened the box I wanted to send this light back! I decided to start on it, I put together the chandelier first and then I assembled the orb, but leaving enough space to put the chandelier inside and then I closed it up. Don't even bother to look at the directions, it'll just confuse you.I looked at the pic online and I used my common sense and trust me you can do it. Im 38 with only decorating and shopping skills....I emailed thumbtack dot com for an electrician to install. Once he installed I then hung the crystals. I didn't hang them like the pic, because I didn't like it. Notice I strung the crystal beads from the top and attached them to the sconces. I love this chandelier orb, I put it in a seating room over my table. I'm adding photos, but you can only see them from a laptop. Good luck great buy...also Im ordering a smaller one for my eat in kitchen and I'm doing a youtube video of the install and assembly.
I love this chandelier. It is an attractive addition to my 12 by16 dining room. I was reluctant to purchase a chandelier without seeing it first hand, but I allowed the reviews to guide me and am happy to report that the reviews were quite accurate and reliable. Despite the very low price, the chandelier does not look cheap. It is a large and substantial fixture. It measures 35 inches in diameter, 22 inches in height with a 5 inch canopy. I agree that a dimmer should be used so as to capture the full spectrum of the chandelier's lighting capabilities--allowing for different mood experiences. The chandelier does come in several pieces, however the instructional diagram was sufficient to allow for a painless assembly. I was able to put it together in 40 minutes without help, though I deferred to a professional electrician for installation. I wholeheartedly recommend this chandelier.
I just installed this in my daughters bedroom the other day. The dimensions are misleading, it is actually 35 1/2 inches tall. At first I was unsure about the large size, but once the room was completed it actually looks perfect. The beads are a beautiful ivory color, not brown at all. Maybe the other reviewer was expecting white?
I really searched and searched and ....searched for an orb light to hang over my kitchen island. I was extremely nervous to get this light in thinking that it would be the wrong color size or look awful. That being said let me give my somewhat long lengthy but descriptive review.
This light is absolutely perfect for ceilings that are not that tall. We have 10-12 ft ceilings and this hangs 19inches from our ceiling so it is perfect with our ceiling height over our island.
Our kitchen island is exactly 5ft long so we bought two of these fixtures to hang and they are perfect. They are 16 inches in width so they would fit perfectly in a small room or you may have to purchase two like I did.
The color states that this is a black finish. Honestly, it is black to the eye. Closely you can see the gold/antique color they brushed the fixture in. I know that sounds tacky but honestly I did not notice it until I looked very very closely that it was brushed in a goldish color.
Sturdy? Well.. not entirely but it is a light fixture so who really cares? Some of the light holders were bent and we just bent them back. Other than having to bend it here and there it was pretty circular.
Putting it together? Seriously the best experience I have had unwrapping a fixture. This fixture is fully put together despite hanging the flush mount. It is sooooo easy and stress free.
I hope this helps you fellow shoppers :) I read almost 20 reviews before I purchase a product so I tend to give my full review.
I would most definitely purchase this product! It is beautiful and you will not spend hours on end installing.
Happy Shopping :-)
This was a bit of a mission to connect but I believe there was an issue with our own electric wiring... not a fault of the hardware or chandelier. Once it was fully installed. WOW. For ALL the bitching my husband did while connecting it, once he saw it he said it was fully worth it! LOL. The little crystals are actually plastic but once hung and lit I swear they look like swarovski crystal! You will NOT be disappointed.
These are the absolute nicest pendants I could find in my search. The size is substantial. Over our 6 ft+ island, 2 pendants look great. I think 3 would have been a bit much. I get so many compliments on them! We paired these with the Vineyard 6-light metal and wood chandelier and it pairs perfectly.
