This is a beautiful fan that is -- as far as ceiling fans go -- relatively easy to install. In operation, it's absolutely silent and moves a good volume of air. For those with 8' ceilings, you'll also be happy to note that the default downrod is perfect as it leaves plenty of space under the fixture.
For those who have issues with the brightness of the light, be sure to read PAGE 16 of your manual. Yes, it's not super bright in any case, but it ships at a default of level of 50% brightness so you need to adjust the brightness to the appropriate level.
This fan is so beautiful that I ended up buying another right after I installed the first. But...now that I've had them awhile, cleaning the crystals is almost impossible. The crystal area doesn't come off without the entire fan being removed. And the space isn't big enough to fit your hand and arm in. So I've had to use chandelier spray cleaner. That, and the fact that it doesn't come with a remote, are the only reason I'm giving it a 4 star.
First off, one thing they don't mention on the site is that the blades are silver on one side (and edges) and a natural wood color on the other, so you have options. The silver side is a painted wood, the other a laminate. They look just fine.
Second, this fan comes with a remote to control the light (on/off) and the fan (off/low/medium/high). That means there is a transmitter that you connect your power to inside the fan housing. It also means that I could bypass the "light output" from the transmitter (blue cord if I recall) and connect the light directly to a light switch. In other words, I preferred to use the remote to control the fan, but a normal light switch to control the light.
Two 40 watt bulbs are not very bright so you'll probably need to use a lamp or other lights in the room. If light output is a priority for you, you'll probably want to find a 3-light unit with 60 watts per light. However, you are probably after the sleek look of this unit rather than those ugly 3 spotlight units of old. It's worth the tradeoff to me.
Lastly, this fan pushes a lot of air. We have it mounted above our bed and we use it to better regulate our comfort and not use the a/c so much.
I have 2 of these high in vaulted ceiling for air movement, I like the look and the soft light they put out.
I did next to spend extra for a longer pole however considering the price on overstock for the fans that was of little concern
This fan was just what I expected. It has that touch of glitz or sparkle I was looking for and is sleek and modern at the same time. My husband started off rolling his eyes but by end I think he had to admit it looked fabulous above out glass/chrome kitchen table. It was what I was looking for in my space. Wired it to wall switch and hid pull chains. Very pretty piece and works very well too.
This fan is great--looks fabulous and moves a lot of air. Same fan at the big-box stores was about $80 more.
Warning to self-installers: When you get to the part on the remote control and can't figure out where to install it it goes up into the bracket above the fan. The instructions don't make this veryclear, and it's a very tight fit, so be patient. Also,if replacing a light fixture with this fan, the canopy is small and may not cover the existing hole you have in your ceiling. You may want to plan on putting up a ceiling medallion, which is much easier to do BEFORE you hang the fan. I had to buy a 2-piece medallion for subsequent installation.
Better instructions would have saved some time, so I'm hoping i can save you that time!
Purchased this for my daughter's room, it is a very unique ceiling fan. Quality seems good. Clear acrylic fan blades retract when the fan is not in operation so it appears to be a nice crystal fixture. The fan moves a great deal of air when in operation and is quiet. Be prepared for a long installation process. The crystal decorations all need to be hung from a small hanger on the bottom of the light fixture. This is quite time consuming. The instructions recommend installing these before hanging the fan, but I installed them after fan body was installed to avoid lifting the entire weight of the fan. The rest of the installation went without incident. It does come with a remote to control the fan and light. When installed on a circuit with a standard light switch, each flip of the switch rotates through light on / fan on low / fan on medium / etc. The fan does emit a beep with each click of the switch or remote. The light output is very high and at 4000K color temperature, very much like daylight, not warm white, I could not find the exact lumen output, but if installed in a standard size bedroom, it is a bit too bright and can not be dimmed. They do make a version that rotates through several kelvin temperature lights including a warm white color. Overall pleased, but if you do not need a lot of light, get the "dimable" version. Only real reason for 4 stars is the long assembly process and very bright lights.
I have been looking for a modern, low profile or flush mount ceiling fan as I have low (standard 8 foot) ceilings and all my current fans are flush mount. it's been impossible to find a flush mount ceiling fan under $300 that has clean, modern lines so I decided to give this a try since the downrod is only 6 inches.. I was a little nervous this might hang down to far, but it's perfect. I can touch the blades, but I have plenty of walking clearance under the fan.
I bought two of these fans and liked them enough to buy two more so now all my ceiling fans match and I don't have any more of those dowdy 1980s style fans with the gold trim and ugly light sconces. The price is great and they look wonderful with all my dark wood and clean lined furniture.
The remote control is a great bonus. It has an on/off switch for the light and low, med, high for the fan. The fan does not have a pull chain so you'll have to keep your remote handy (mine is attached to a light switch which will turn on the light for me). It puts out a nice amount of air in my medium sized bedroom. The light is on the soft side due to how opaque the glass shade is and because you can only use two 40 watt bulbs. But I don't want bright glaring light at night and prefer the softer light it casts so it works for me.
I love the fan and put it up in my office which is a smaller space then the other rooms in my house. Be aware on what size fan you are looking to get since this has smaller blades then the standard ceiling fans out there. It is perfect for the space that have and emits plenty of cooling air, so I am super happy with it.
The 96 inch industrial looking ceiling fan is a perfect fit in my modern living room. The fan itself is nice and stylish with a metallic nickle finish and runs very quietly. The air circulating abilities of this fan are astronomical. I hope to enjoy this fan for years to come
I had to send this back because my electrician said it needed three wires and I only have two wires in my 1950's condo. The control to turn it on gets wired into the switch plate on the wall. It's not a remote control. I didn't realize that until my electrician pointed it out. Nice looking fan though.
We really like these fans. Nice modern look. The brushed nickel really looks nice. Only complaint is the lights are very dim. Without the bulb cover, they are fine. With the cover, they are too dim. They need to increase the translucency of the bulb cover. Still trying to find a brighter bulb that will fit in the enclosure....
The fan came well packaged. The assembly instructions could have been clearer, especially the identification of parts. The instructions did not clearly identify what parts were needed for flush installation. The completed fan is exactly what I hoped.
I looked for a ceiling fan that would enhance a traditional LR/DR in my new condo. For the most part this works. However ... the finish is not really bronze, but a very, shiny metallic-brown ... similar to the mirrored finish on an automobile.
Also, it does not come with a remote as stated in the description. You will have to add one.
The fan blades are not wooden as described but stamped sheet metal with a wood-look painted finish. The crystals strands on the light kit have to be painstakingly attached. One end of a strand has a coiled metal ring similar to that of a key chain and needs to be guided through one of the small holes on the rim. The other end has a straight wire which once inserted in its corresponding hole is bent into place like a hook.
The crystals are linked together with a silver colored wire. The base of the light kit is chrome colored and is has a partial pull chain inserted. The rest of the chain length and the decorative amber-colored pull came packaged separately.
I am planning to apply a bronze patina to the metal on the body and the light kit as the existing finish will not work with my antique art and furnishings.
I like the fact that the chandelier bulbs are old fashioned incandescent and not halogen, etc.
I like the concept of the fan. I just wish it had been further developed.
We love these fans! Being in Texas we needed ceiling fans in our bedrooms and we looked for months for a reasonably priced modern fan and these were perfect. They fit snug to the ceiling, you can't lower it like a traditional fan. This was exactly what we were looking for since we have standard ceiling heights in our older home and these give the illusion of having a higher ceiling because they mount directly to the ceiling. They are powerful enough to generate a lot of cooling air but are very sleek and stylish. The light in them is fluorescent and gives off a good deal of light, I believe a little more than 100watt equivalent. The remote is very easy to operate. We couldn't be happier, amazing value for the price, comparable fans we looked at cost at least twice as much.
I had been looking for an LED light nickel, contemporary-looking ceiling fan at a reasonable price point and not having much luck. I found this and like it. Had an electrician install it and he seemed to do it easily. I got a 48" downrod at lowes that worked fine with it. Light is nice and bright and fan has nice movement.
We installed this fan in our mountain house with 20+ foot ceilings the other night. To clear our roof line and beams, we had to use a 36" pipe for a downrod that we drilled holes into and spray painted to a perfect nickel color match. My husband is very handy and it took about 3 hours start to finish on a very tall ladder. In the end, we ended up attaching the blades on the ground and installing the entire thing in one piece. It looks awesome, produces great air circulation, is super quiet and we are very happy so far. The 36" downrod (1/2 inch - very important) is working perfectly, no shake at all.
We have a long galley style kitchen that we were trying to do a little makeover to, so I wanted a light and a fan small enough to not hot the cabinet doors. Also power to keep the kitchen cool while cooking. This fit the bill it works terrific...very powerful little fan! I would have given this a 5 rating if it included a light kit. Overstock DID NOT say it was not included when I bought this over the summer. You can buy a light kit for it from the manufacture, it was about $**, but all in all it was worth it..I wish the glass that covers the light was flatter it's a dome shape. But I will definitely buy this again, this time for our laundry room.
The ceiling fan has a modern look and nickel finish. I like the control features but I'm not fond of the blades but because they are short and it has a painted finish. The fan is extremely heavy so two people are required for installation. This fan is good for a small to medium sized bedroom. If you put it in a living room it looks really tiny.
We moved into a house that had these huge ceiling fans, but no so big bedrooms. I bought these for each room to not only update the look to a more modern design, but also make the room look bigger by getting a smaller fan. The look works and the rooms look huge now. It also might be a smaller fan, but you wouldn't know it with how good it circulates air. My husband who only has novice electric skills was able to put all of these up at about an hour per fan.
Looks great! I had it professionally installed so I can't speak for the ease or difficulty of that portion but it went in my teenage son's room with a gray/red/black color palette and looks fabulous. He thinks it looks really cool and the light output is great as his room was always dark and needed a large (hot!) floor lamp so this beautiful fan with lights resolved several issues for us. It looks good, produces great light an, price was very reasonable. No regrets!
Had purchased this fan to replace the one in our bedroom. Read the reviews and seemed to be a good fit however, one of the bulbs was broke so I only have 2 working bulbs. No one around here has one that matches. Would really appreciate a replacement bulb. Otherwise, it's quiet and looks great.
