I bought my wife -- though I'm the actual user -- a ProHeat 2X 9200 series at Christmas 2006. During January 2007, I cleaned the carpet in the entire house, first time it had been cleaned since installation in 2001. Considering charges by professional carpet cleaners, it was well worth the investment, did an excellent job, plus I could clean at my convenience and need. This past spring the ProHeat quit working, so we looked for another cleaner. After looking on the Bissell website, and seeing what was available at the big box stores, we purchased a DeepClean Premier Pet 17N4 (though we don't have any pets# on May 16. On Memorial Day, I used it for the first time to clean a guest bedroom, hallway and den, plus four small area rugs. It cleaned as well as the ProHeat, though I noticed a few pro's and con's. The biggest plus compared to the ProHeat 9200 is the top of the brush section is removable, making it so much easier to clean as you go and when you finish. The tank assembly also cleans up without leaving lint/hair stuck in crevices. On the other hand, there is no "rinse" function as on the 9200, as it has separate tanks for clean water and the cleaning solution. It is necessary to drain the cleaning solution, since it is pre-mixed in the clean water tank, and put fresh water in to rinse #you will be surprised how much more dirt gets picked up when you rinse). So you will want to have a resealable one-gallon container to drain your solution into, and to put any unused solution when you finish. The Heatwave system uses waste heat from the motor to keep the solution warm. I'm sure this is more energy-efficient than the water heater on the ProHeat, but I don't feel it is quite as effective. And if you drain the solution to rinse, then the solution is cooler when you go back to cleaning. Overall, the DeepClean does a very good job for its intended use. I give it extra points for ease of clean-up after use.
I like this cleaner even though its a bit heavy for a portable cleaner. It does its job on furniture, the cars and to spot clean carpet. If you are looking for something to do a full carpet clean or large stains then this is not the product for you. This works for us and small spills that happen due to boys being boys.
This product performed wonderfully and allowed us to keep the existing white carpets in the house we bought. We were amazed at the stains it was able to get out. We liked it so much we bought one for our vacation rental house to use there. The only recommendation I would make is to use very little (if any) soap since the soap can get trapped in the fibers and then attract stains. It is not a use and put away gadget though-- after using you'll need to get all the fibers and hair out of the brushes.
Although light, this carpet cleaner works amazing! Ironically after purchasing, my pup became ill. This cleaner exceeded all expectations and did an amazing job. The tank is small, so quite a few trips are required, but the task of cleaning carpets isn't necessarily for the lazy. Publix sells an oxiclean soap for the cleaner that is very reasonably priced.
We have Berber carpeting in our great room and after trying three different local carpet cleaning companies and being less than thrilled with the results, I decided to purchase my own steam cleaner. I researched the web and decided on the Bissell 86T3 Big Green Deep Cleaner and I'm glad I did. The directions are clear and easy to follow and the machine works like a dream. It is on the heavy side, but I think that's just the nature of the beast. I had a little trouble seating the dirty water tank properly, but once I got it fitted correctly, it really did the job right. I am very happy with my carpet cleaner and won't hesitate to recommend it to friends.
I just used this machine for the first time. I had the most disgusting pet stains on my stairs, they were black in some spots. I pretreated and used the lift off machine and the spots are gone. I wish I could post a picture because I took before and after shots and it's amazing. My carpet is about 10 years old and I have had a house full of kids and pets, I cleaned it last (ashamed to say) 4 years ago so it was pretty bad. This machine just took care of all of it and I paid what I would have paid one time for the pros to come out - and now I'll have it on hand all the time. What with grand kids spilling things, my little dog who still decorates the carpet, I can whip the Bissell Lift off out whenever I want to and keep the carpet clean. Great machine - and it's so easy to use - out of the box, plug it in and go - just have to attach the handle on the base, that's it. I highly recommend this machine.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cleaner. After seeing how clean it gets my carpets I have become addicted! I have 2 small kids, 2 small dogs and white carpets and white furniture. Thanks to this magnificant machine, they are still white! I use pet cleaner in my machine and it's gotten out koolaid, grape jelly, dark soda, potty accidents and many other things. I make sure to vacuum very good before I use this and it still pulls up pet hair. I also use this on my ceramic tiles in the kitchen and have used it to clean my husbands concrete garage. I have had my shampooer for 4 years and zero issues. I clean it and air it out after each use and it works like a champ!! DEFINITELY worth the investment.
We recently moved into our home. The light beige carpet had a set-in brown stain that resembled coffee that was not changed when I used my regular deep cleaner. While I bought the SpotBot to clean pet messes, I thought this stain would be a real test for the machine. I first tried it using the regular formula for cleaning. It actually made the spot look worse as it brought the stain up to the surface. I let that dry thoroughly, then used the OxyGen2 formula with the set-in stain cycle. It literally erased the stain and it is impossible to tell where the stain once was. I'm a believer! This is a wonderful machine and the OxyGen2 formula is a miracle worker on stains that have dyed the carpet.
I have never stopped to write a review about a household cleaning item until now. I bought the Big Green to replace my Bissell 2x ProHeat carpet cleaner. The Big Green 10N2 blows away the ProHeat 2X, not just by a little amount but it completely destroys it. The quality of the Big Green is seriously awesome, it is built like a tank. The separate dirty water and clean water tanks are awesome and are easy to fill and dump out. The endurance on a full clean water tank is about 3x the ProHeat 2X. If you are on the fence...BUY IT! you will not regret it.
I am so surprised by the poor reviews I see here! However, there aren't many reviews and I've found that most people only want to review something when they have a negative issue with an item, rather than when they are happy with an item. ...I however wanted to submit a review because I absolutely love my carpet washer! I have 9 year old cream colored, berber carpeting that loves to hold onto dirt and stains. I have 3 children all under the age of 7, 2 huge dogs, 2 cats, me, my husband and my mother all living under one roof. Needless to say, our carpets have seen a spill or two and some heavy-duty foot traffic. I hired a professional "chemical based" carpet cleaning company to come do my carpets and I could barely see a difference. My husband was so mad, he demanded a refund. It was terrible. Well, after that, I bought this machine and I am beyond impressed. It quite literally turned my grey, splotchy, stained, berber carpeting to it's original, cream-colored newness again! It is amazing! It got out every single stain - even a stain I had from buffalo wing sauce that I have tried everything to remove it!! This machine is a life-saver and an absolute dream! The drying time is beyond impressive as well. Not even 8 hours after washing the carpets and they are bone-dry. It took 2 days for my carpets to dry when I had them professionally done. This machine has amazing suction. My only "con" was that it is heavy, but I mean, in reality - of course it is! It holds quite a big of water so of course it's going to be heavy. It's also kind of a pain to have to refill the tank with water and empty out the dirty tank constantly while cleaning. I think I had to do it 6 times or more per room. It can be annoying, but given how well this machine cleans and suctions - it's a small price to pay! Thank you Hoover! I love, love, love this machine!! (As a side note, I've owned my machine for a year now, with zero issues with it)
We've owned one for years. It's easy to use and clean. It gets up old and new stains from pets, spills, etc. We've had no problems with it until now. The drive belt gear wear, due to much use gave out and separated. Though this part is easily accessible when replacing the belt; it is considered to be an internal part and cannot be purchased for replacement. For such a good product, the SpotLifter has a sore spot. The plastic gear has a wear problem due to plastic weakness and a non-replacement option.
Because my carpet was 11 years old and very light tan in color I had to buy one gal of simple green and added one quart of water to it and sprayed the high traffic area. Well I got awesome result from this wide track rug doctor. Big big improvement from my last hover carpet cleaner, this machine takes three gals of soap where the hover took less than a gal. My job was done two third the time sooner with much much better results. Love it.
We were amazed the first time we used this! A bit hesitant off the price, we are well satisfied with the mini-investment. The first cleaning we did with this machine was a carpet with high traffic stains that had apparently set in over the years of the tenancy. (Read: kids, dogs, entryway area, an occasional drink spill, etc...) At first, there was horrible suction and a strange noise coming from the machine. I imagine this is what "Dilled" was referring to above. We quickly realized that we had forgotten to put the cap back on. Oops. When we followed the simple directions (Wash, Suck, Rinse, Suck) the carpet looked almost brand-new. Really. I wish we had had this years ago. It would have saved us time and money over and over again.
Bought this little machine to save my knees. I had a lot of wood flooring that needed a light scrubbing and this fit the bill. Would have been even better if it vaccuumed the water/solution back up but this made the scrubbing easy. The machine was easy to put together and is not very heavy.
