This magnificent bronze bust captures the fierce and spiritual resilience of a Native American warrior chief. The number of hair-pipe bones in the plate reflected the warriors wealth, as these bones were difficult and expensive to obtain. Although they provided little protection in battle, the breastplates were prized as decorative and medicine items.
