Cambridge Casual Alston Traditional Rocking Chair

This is a 5 star rocker. I ordered this quality rocking chair in white. The craftsmanship exceeded my expectations. The wood is evenly painted and very smooth. Two people assembling it was necessary. Pieces needed to be held in place while others were fitted properly. Most pieces went together easily, but the seat took a number of tries. So glad we didn't call it quits. The chair is beautiful with a smooth gliding motion. It's sturdy and ornamental making my front porch look very inviting. If I had the room I'd order a second!

The rockers (I ordered 2 in black) arrived as promised. Each was packaged well without causing any damage. The color was perfect for my intended use. My husband started to assemble 1 at a time, checking all the parts according to the enclosed assembly instructions. All was good to go. Here's where I will add a word of caution . . . If you value your marriage, DO NOT do this as a couple! With that being said, we started the assembly with me holding parts, as best I could, and he did all the assembly work. Although, to me, it felt like hours, but in less than an hour we had a rocker. So, that was one down and one to go. After learning the do's and don'ts from the first rocker, the second came together a little faster. Still a word of caution . . . DO NOT do this as a couple if you value your marriage. All the screws were given a final tightening and it was time to cover the inset screws with the little plugs. The plugs would not stay put, so we Gorilla glued them in place. That worked great! Both rockers turned out great and are now proudly displayed on my front porch. I'm attaching a picture simply because I'm really proud of them. I would highly recommend these to others. After much searching for the perfect rocker I’m very satisfied with these. They are sturdy, very comfortable , solid and beautiful!! They have a glossy black finish. We’ve only had them a couple of months so I can’t review longevity at this point. At this price point these are top notch. Assembly was easy. Curved seat, wide arm rests, smooth rocking motion and and high back make this comfortable for me at 5’2” and hubs at 6’. I definitely recommend this product!

We got the brown. The chair overall is fine, went together easy enough and pretty solid. . However the finish is odd. It is rough in spots, matte in spots and shiny in other spots. The brown looks more painted than stained as no grain shows through. It did not look like the pictures to me. I was expecting a brown stained chair with no clear coat or a matte top finish.

I ordered two of these for my front porch. I was a little worried when they came in a super flat box.... yikes! Good instructions if you have any sort of sense of following direction. Arms needed to be glued but glue was provided. Pay special attention to what screws need to go where and it will be smooth sailing. The first chair went together in about 35 minutes. The second went together in about 20 minutes. Great value and quite comfortable!

Durable! The high-back rockers are the way to go. Assembly was relatively easy -- about 20 minutes per chair. A nice, smooth rocker that we have on the deck. Wood appears to be treated well.

They seem durable and are definitely comfortable -- you don't sit as straight upright in these as another brand of rocker I bought previously that looks similar, so that is a plus. The only problem I had was two of the screw types of labeled incorrectly such that if you follow the installation instructions and use the smaller screws first, the larger screws later don't fit in the pre-drilled holes. So check hole sizes to determine which screws to use! On the second chair I switched the screws and it worked much better.

Very nice quality and easy to put together.

Easy to put together. Arrived quickly. One chair came dented, a manufacture defect. Called Overstock and they gave me store credit. Thank you very much. 2 other chairs had improperly drilled holes so we needed bigger screws so hubby went to Home Depot and bought some. Other than that the chairs are very nice and look beautiful on my porch.

These rocking chairs look so nice on my new porch! They are very sturdy and comfortable and I have received so many compliments! Looking forward to spending time on my porch with the nice weather!

Sturdy and easy to install

One chair is damaged, one has a piece of wood sticking out. Overstock will not return unless I pay for return shipping which is *** Overstock said they do not stand by or take returns on low quality items. I will never purchase from Overstock again. Super unhappy.

The chairs look beautiful when assembled. Very bight and look more expensive than I paid. At first I was a little overwhelmed with the assembly. I am happy to say it was VERY easy to put together.We will be enjoying these rockers for a long time and would certainly order them again.

The chairs look beautiful when assembled. Very bight and look more expensive than I paid. At first I was a little overwhelmed with the assembly. I am happy to say it was VERY easy to put together.We will be enjoying these rockers for a long time and would certainly order them again.
