Buffet was easy to assemble. Spacious inside with plenty of room for 10 piece dining set and linens. The top of the buffet is large enough to be used as a serving surface for several dishes and the height is perfect. I had a piece of tempered glass made to fit on top to protect the surface. I was so pleased with the buffet I have just ordered another one!
Beautiful piece. Certainly doesn't look cheap and was a good value. Took a couple hours to assemble with 2 people. Received in timely manner in perfect condition. Fairly heavy to bring in from the porch when delivered, but that's not a bad thing. But steps 10, 11, 12, and 13 had problems (out of 14 total steps). Step 10- Drilled holes to go through side panels of wine rack (E) to beam attached under buffet top (A) were not created on beam (A) so we could not secure screws. Fortunately, I believe this is just added support to keep the top in place. Life goes on without this extra step. Step 11- as you can see, there is no back board. We were sent the parts for this step, but there were no pre-drilled holes in the perimeter of the back of the buffet (A and D) to secure the back panels (G) with. Step 12- cabinet doors (F) are warped at the bottom. So much so that they won't lay completely flush when shut. We hoped that this would be solved by installing the magnetic plates/bars (8) which are possibly strong enough to reverse the outward bend when shut. However, when secured, the bar and the plate do not line up (this can be seen in picture taken from inside the buffet, which was able to be done since back panels were not able to be secured with the provided pieces). Step 13- Finally, the shelf support divets (9), when put in desired locations, are not parallel between piece D and E, so shelves (G) wobble and do not lay flat. All in all, most of this can be handled when you spend the extra time and money on different materials (ex. Longer screws and a small platform to place under piece 8 so the magnet bar and plate can line up correctly & possibly using wood glue to secure the backboards), so we give it four stars. The furniture itself is well-made and the instructions are easy to understand. It fits perfectly in our dining room and home overall. Other reviewers did not seem to have these issues which leads me to believe we just got the oddball. But if you too run into these complications don't expect to be able to use it for anything besides putting things in the drawers, on top of the buffet, or in the wine racks (and possibly using the cabinet spaces without the shelves to store something tall, like a vase). Hope this helps!
I have a love hate relationship with this piece. It ships in three boxes from Overstock. All three boxes shipped on the same day at the same time. Received the first box on a Monday, second on Tuesday, and the third on Wednesday. That's on UPS. The items came well wrapped in packing cloth and encased in styrofoam, however there were still chips and dings. I'm handy, so I did an assessment to figure out which, if any of those damages would actually be visible. There were two, a chipped back corner of one the shelves and the front right corner of the base was pretty much gone. I decided to fix it as opposed to going through the aggravation of sending it back and getting another, which lets face it, could be equally damaged or worse. The people who estimated 3 to 5 hours to build this were spot on. I did it over two nights after dinner, and add a third to make the repairs. The instructions are fantastic. Each piece of hardware (bolts, cams and locks, screws, etc) come in an individual bag with a letter sticker. The instructions explain what to use where. Each piece of hardware came with a few extras in case you lose one. Definite bonus points for that. Each part has stickers that give each piece a part number and label the area of the part as the front and/or top. It's a good system, however, it's also annoying. The stickers use a serious adhesive. It would be a lot better if they used easy peel stickers. Once it's done you have stickers visible all over the place, and as soon as you try to peel them they shred. You're going to be digging glue off with your thumbnail. Second, one of the pieces was mislabeled, and this was a serious screwup. The very top horizontal piece running the width of the buffet, had the front sticker at what was actually the back. Figured this out after the thing was assembled and standing upright, it was a two person job to remove it and flip it around. But it gets a bit worse. This also meant that the center vertical piece that's attached to that top piece was also backwards and that wasn't immediately obvious until I went to install the adjustable shelves. The holes in the center piece did not line up with the holes in the outer sides. That piece had to be flipped, and because I already had installed the back piece, there were now two screw holes in the front facing. Had to patch those as well. So, first night I built the shell, second night I fixed the messed up center vertical piece, installed the shelves and doors, and built and installed the drawers. Third night I patched the screw holes, fixed the chip on the shelf and rebuilt the front right bottom corner. Fourth morning sanded the repairs, and color matched the stain. The whole thing needed a thorough cleaning once done, everything had a gritty feel to it, not sure if it was sawdust or something left over from finishing process. There will also be styrofoam flakes everywhere, and you have to get that sticker adhesive off. All told, the thing is heavy duty, and absolutely gorgeous. Just know you might be getting a bigger project than you've bargained for, and if you're not handy or not willing to take a chance on getting an item in completely pristine condition you might want to look elsewhere. If the overall experience had been better and the item hadn't been damaged I wouldn't hesitate giving it 5 stars.
Took some time to put it together, but was well worth it. The buffet is heavy and does not feel cheaply made. This has been an excellent addition to our dining room area especially with a 6 bottle wine fridge on top! Cheers :)
