The buffet was just ad pictured. The color looks good in my dining area & is roomy enough to hold my items. Putting it together took me a while but i managed. Would have liked a lacquered finish.
I received this item and there were some paint issues which was a disappointment, but overstock replaced it. It is a very nice quality cabinet. Takes a while to put together, but is manageable. The opening in the doors did not appeal to me since I am using it for a bathroom and didn't want the contents visable. I used window privacy film taped on the inside and I like the look. Another downside, which is worth mentioning is the lacquer had a very strong smell that lingers. I'd you are sensitive to smell it can be irritating, but I believe it will eventually dissipate. The knobs are a gold color which to my eye look odd. I replaced them with bronze oil rub knobs and like it much better Overall, this looks like an expensive piece, it is heavy and solid. I'd recommend purchasing it.
Smart look at a good price, but not a top quality piece. Here are the good points: If you're looking for a clean, mid-century modern look, this will give you what you want. The grey lacquered fronts for the cabinets and drawers are shiny and smooth. If you like dark wood, the top and sides of this unit give you that. On the not-so-positive side: This is a laminate product, on all "walnut" surfaces and lacquered fronts. The build for this item took more than four hours, because there are a lot of parts, and because the instructions aren't easy to understand. Our item arrived with broken corners on the top and main side pieces. We were sent replacement parts promptly, but this damage gives some insight into how easy it will be to ding the laminate surfaces.
