  • Great nostalgia for excellent results

I bought this to grind peanuts and make my homemade peanutbutter like my mother did with the same tool in the 1950's. Sure I can make peanut butter with my food processor, but grinding it it old fashioned way does taste better. I also grind cacao beans into cacao paste with excellent results. I cracked corn and wheat for the 8 chickens and perfect again. This machine will not grind your wheat or corn into a fine talcum flour, it is not intended to that like some reviewers intended to use it for. But it makes coarse and fine peanut butter and coarse and finely ground wheat and anything else. Very happy with it and intend to buy another one for my sister in The Netherlands.

  • Good Corn Grinder...
    Verified Purchase

Good for small batch grinding. Be sure to clean well before assembly, if using for food grade. I have only used for corn for small critters. Grinder sets up well and attaches firmly to my bench. I would not want to use this if tasked with grinding several pounds at a time but for small amounts it works very well and I believe it will last a long time.

  • Solid grinder with mixed reviews
    Verified Purchase

It appears to be a well made grinder that also works well. It definitely has an unpleasant odor...sort of like petroleum or something. I soaked it a while in baking soda water and it seemed to get better, but smelled again when I got it out of its original box. Maybe I need to store it in something else. It is easy to put together and if you get it clamped tightly to the table, it stays firm. It grounds the wheat, but it does not make the grains small enough to use as flour. It crushes them and they can be added to a recipe that already has flour in it. It is a simple machine that works...but may not give you precisely the product you desire. Perhaps someone stronger than I could get the mechanism tighter to grind a smaller sized product.

  • A lot of work for not what I wanted
    Verified Purchase

I bought the grinder to turn whole wheat into wheat flour but it couldn't grind it fine enough. It was a lot of work hand grinding just a handfull of wheat. It might be useful if you want cracked wheat. We ended up just giving the grounds to the chickens.

  • Great Buy
    Verified Purchase

I bought this grinder to grind corn and wheat and rice to make ceral and it works great. It was easy to put together. The only thing neg I can say about this grinder is that it had an odor right out of the box (smelled like oil). So I soaked it in baking soda water and then washed it with hot water and soap and it smelled fine. Thank you for such a great product at a good price.
