  • Basic White Bread recipe
    Reviewed at http://www.breadman.com/

Does anyone proof read your recipes? The Basic White Bread recipe calls for 4 tsp. bread flour and 5 cups of yeast. I'm a little leary about trusting any of the other recipes. Are they okay?

  • Bearings wear out in pan - can't replace!
    Reviewed at http://www.breadman.com/

I'm about to throw away my SECOND perfectly functional Breadman. The machine works fine; I've used it once a week for about three years, and it's still going strong. (Same with the first one!) However, for the second time, the bearings in the bottom of the pan have worn out. This seems reasonable, with the time and intensity of use. What is unreasonable, however, is that I cannot replace the pan! So, for want of a new pan (which I would be happy to purchase), I have to throw out the entire machine. So, I'm now shopping for a different company and product, one that will let me replace the parts that I expect to wear out. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I have the Breadman BK2000B for at least 4 years, and I use it all the time. I am very happy with it, but the one collapsible Paddle makes scratches on the bottom of the pan while moving. That may be because the shaft has been fallen out. Now recently the other shaft fell out. I looked on line to find out what's going on, and I ordered the "Pan Seal Kit Set". I hope that will take care of the problem. Lately, when I put my pan in the machine, I noticed that it is not centered. I took the pan out and looked at it, and the pan is bend. Now I can't find a large replacement pan. Can you help me, please.

  • Not sure what to think
    Reviewed at http://www.breadman.com/

I bought this machine because it looked so promising and it hadof programming features. But the noise that makes is too loud to use overnight. In addition, I'm not sure if I got a damaged one or what but, the two pairs of paddles that I received are different. The ones that bend go inserted all the way down. But the other ones can't reach the bottom, because of this there is like an 8 milimeters light between the paddle and the bottom of the container. :( I think I'm returning this to the store.

  • great machine, lousy business management
    Reviewed at http://www.breadman.com/

I lost the paddle (I made a bad loaf- my fault- and threw it out... with the paddle). However the paddle can not be purchased separately. I called HQ to verify. Selling machines without providing small parts is lousy business practice. Gotta love sourcing /making equipment halfway around the world.

  • My first breadmaker
    Verified Purchase

This is the first automatic breadmaker I've ever used. I've made three loaves to date and they've all baked up very nice. This breadmaker has many extra features for making all kinds of breads, doughs, batter breads, jams, jellies, and many other things. I've only begun to explore all of it's possibilities. So far, I would have to say it does what it does very well. The only drawback to these kind of machines is they are only capable of making bread in one form. They aren't able to produce round breads, braided breads or baguettes, nor can they make unleavened breads. Despite that, this machine is very versatile and makes a very good 1#, 1.5#, or 2# standard loaf in about 21/2 to 3 hours. I like it.

  • Lousy bread maker
    Reviewed at http://www.breadman.com/

I've made ten loaves of bread over the past month and not one of them has browned on top, and the bread comes out looking grotesque. I have to cut the tops off, wasting the bread. I'm very dissatisfied. Does anyone else have this problem? And by the way, I follow the instructions for basic bread to the nth, so don't anyone tell me I'm not doing the ingredients correctly. The only thing I like about this and I'm sure the other breadmakers are like this, you use very few ingredients as compared to the chemicals they put in store bought bread. I don't recommend this breadmaker. Maybe there are better ones out there.

  • Disappointed Customer
    Verified Purchase

I had the old Breadman Model TR-500B for years and loved it so when the drive mechamism finally broke I naturally bought the latest Breadman model and was quite disappointed. The bread pan in the new model is a cheap coated stamping vs. the weighty casting in the old model which I believe may be the reason my favorite recepies no longer rise well. The added value of many more settings does not make up for the added confusion of using the machine. The clasps that hold the pan in are more difficult to align and the pan is very difficult to pull out. I much preferred the old loaf shape, tall and uniformly square, to the new wide loaf that make slices that no longer fit in my toaster. The new stainless body is a nice improvement in looks, but definitely does not make up for the shortcomings. All in all, very disappointed with this new model and wish I had my old one back.

  • Best Thing I Have Bought On-Line
    Verified Purchase

I have never even thought of baking bread before (other than jiffy corn bread!), but I bought this on a whim and I cannot believe how easy it is to use. It is also amazingly easy to clean (like, two swipes of a wet paper towel). The recipe book that comes with it was pretty boring, but I found a ton on-line and I have had so much fun already and can't wait to try my hand at more! I agree that the pan is hard to get in and out, but compared with the ease of bread baking and clean-up, I am not going to complain. I seriously want to quit my job and bake bread all day!
