My husband bought this Breville Immersion Blender for me after I said that i wanted something quick and easy to use When I don't want to use the Vitamix. This one fit the bill perfectly. Feels very solid, good quality. Maybe a little larger and heavier than the cheaper models.
We finally decided to replace our Waring blender. I wanted a Vitamix but couldn't bring myself to spend $700 on it. This blend seems to be comparable to the Waring in it's ability to blend things to a certain degree of smoothness. It can handle a variety of fruits and vegetables with the addition of a lot of liquid. But it will not pulverize berry and chia seeds if that is requited for you. It definitely has a lot more button options than the waring, but I haven't used them enough to decide if how much better it make the smoothies. I haven't used it for ice or anything other than drinks. I also still have to scrape the sides and lid down.
I'll admit that I use my blender a couple of times a day for smoothies, making powder, and other things. It has been 10 months or so since I made this purchase. The warranty is nearly at an end and the machine is still running good. It does feel like it is getting slower...slightly and I never liked the fact that I couldn't take it apart to clean thoroughly, but it is does everything that I can ask of it.
