    I am an old buyer of Black & Decker rice cookers but my last 2 experiences have been bad. I purchased a unit that had gone bad (knob wasn't switching to cook) so then I was sent a replacement unit which actually went bad in 2 months. The knob does not switch automatically to warm. Because of which my rice is burnt. I would not recommend people to try this out. I'm pretty sure they switched vendors or something. The quality is not the same as it used to be 5-6 years back. They seriously need to reconsider the quality. When contacted, they asked me to ship the rice cooker on my expenses, plus pay them for return shipping. Why would I do that? Why would I spend another $15-$20 bucks for another B&D unit. I would rather go purchase a new one of some other brand.

    We got this rice cooker and it stopped working after 2 weeks. We used it maybe 5 times total and it was great until it would no longer turn on. We hoped the shortcomings of previous reviews had been addressed but I guess not.

    I completely agree with a review below from 5 mos ago. After visiting my GF in Bogota, Colombia in Jan, 2014, and watching her SO EASILY use her 3 Cup B & D Rice Cooker I got home and could not WAIT to buy one online in 3/14. It worked until about 1/16 and it would not turn on anymore. I liked it though so I bought another in about 2/16 and IT "just stopped working" about 9 mos later. THEN(!), I decided to give it ANOTHER try, bought one THIS year in February and it lasted exactly TWO USES and would not turn on anymore. I am VERY disappointed/frustrated and am now "storing" a new 10LB bag of rice as a result. I cannot now recommend this product to ANYONE, especially after reading ALL of the predominantly negative reviews below :>( A faulty "contact" inside the Cooker? As with some reviewers below, I'm not really interested in returning my latest cooker and paying shipping BOTH ways. Thank you.

    A friend of mine has a Black and Decker rice cooker that he has had for at least 8 years. I liked it so i bought one about 18 months ago. It lasted a little over a year. Figuring it was just bad luck, i went out and replaced it with the same model. This one has been used a couple of times and now it has done the same thing. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

    My mom and Dad bought this exact model more than 10 years ago. They used it every week and it made the perfect amount for them. A few years ago, he died and she moved to a senior apartment. She gave it to me and my husband and I have used it just as much. Surprised at the bad reviews, we love it and I'm going to get one for my son who moved out. This year the handle broke on it, so we need to replace it, but I'm not surprised with the constant use it's had! If you need a small cooker, take a chance on this one and use the warranty if needed.
