I live in Minnesota and this bath worked great during the winter. It kept the water melted for our overwintering birds. You must add sand or something for weith and the top can be difficult to get screwed on tightly because you must line up and them turn. Sometimes only one side lines up. Ideally you could clip it on from the outside. In the winter, when it is cold and it needs to be cleaned I don't like "fussing" with this top.
I got this for my mother for Mother's Day.. It is so lovely! She needed help getting it assembled, but it is such a great addition to her garden. It looks pretty with or without birdseed in the top.
One of the pictures associated with this pole was that they had a solar light for the top, unfortunately, the two I purchased (06/03/16 - ONLY 2 Left) don't have that option. A little misleading but since I need the poles in the back yard I will keep them... *shrug*
