The bench matches perfectly with the Pomona Metal and Reclaimed wood table. It's heavier than I would have expected which is good. Nice and solid. We use the bench as seating with the table so the bottom plank we're not really using. But using the bench for storage or as decor in an entryway would be very nice and the bottom plank would definitely be useful. I'm considering ordering another bench just for that purpose.
Some of the reviewers said it was plastic?! It's not. It's wood. Case in point: how many times have you encountered veneer on the UNDER side of a seat? The underside was painted black, but you can still see the knots. I can't tell if the wood slats are Pine or Alder, but most DEFINITELY WOOD. The ends of the bench are encased in.... metal plate on the top and edges up to it are...? I examined it very close and the edges are so tight, smooth and same color - it sure looks like it could be the same material. The item was packaged extremely well. Regardless there was a slight nick on the bottom edge near the center of one of the sides. I tapped it with some stain to cover the fresh lumber. Now it looks intentional. Seriously - at 160 for a bench that looks this nice in my living room. NOT COMPLAINING. I am placing it in the room below. My handyman is pleading with me not to paint the wood seat to match the sofa before I set it front. I'm probably going to do it anyway. I'll post an updated photo once it's placed.
I purchased this bench for my bedroom-- I have a mixed metallic theme with dark wood. The bench is a bit shiny- which I didn't expect, but it still works. Also- the price was great.
