We just assembled this bed a few days ago and it looks absolutely beautiful. It was pretty easy to put together too. Based on the other reviews I did go to Home Depot to get extra slats for support and I'm glad I did. It really does look like it belongs in a hotel and super expensive. People couldn't believe how much I paid for it plus I was able to use my Club O rewards. Hopefully it stands the test of time.
The other reviews I read pretty much said it all. One thing I might suggest is that if you are going to buy the bed, join the "Club O". It costs around $20, but you save 5% on this and all future purchases. Do get the special tool to put the bed together (see other reviews) and all will be well. The only thing I would change is that I would have liked the bed to be a little higher (with an 11" mattress it's about 26" off the floor). You could raise it if you used a taller mattress, but you start loosing the headboard. Still, it's as solid as a rock and looks sleek. I expect it will be around for a long time.
Only order this bed if you want to make a STATEMENT. It is glorious, easy to put together and a great price. What else could you ask for? I am decorating my home from top to bottom and everyone who walks into the room stops and gasps at how beautiful my bed is. I paired it with a pink tufted bench with crystals to soften the look and feel of the room and the two are beautiful pieces that compliment each other very well. No one can believe how inexpensive this piece was and that there was no shipping! (club O members never pay shipping) Say YES to the bed.... it is worth every penny.
I based my purchase on the other reviews on this site. We purchased this along with 2 side tables and the 7 drawer chest. The bed is solid and sturdy. It comes in 3 boxes that are about 70 lbs each. The color of the bed is fairly close to the picture. Like everyone else has stated, there is this one akward step that makes building this bed time consuming, you can shorten this time by using a phillips or flat head screwdriver for most of the tightening and then switch to the provided allen wrench. Make sure you go through the instructions first, most pieces have a directionality to them and you can easily mix something up. The instruction are mediocre at best. I'd definately suggest using an electric screwdriver for this project, especially if you purchase the whole set. It will definately save you hours. It's worth joining the O club if you buy the whole set.
