Had some problems and contacted the company. After going back and forth for a few weeks, they sent me a replacement. It’s been about a week now and no bendy legs. Rating 3 stars for the hassle of sleeping with the mattress on the floor for a few weeks and scratches on my hardwood floor (the sticky pads provided come off almost instantly), but the new frame seems to be doing it’s job.
After reading a bunch of the other reviews, I was a little hesitant to order this but decided to do it anyway. I'm so glad I did! Everyone else seemed to have been basing their low rating on missing hardware or being difficult to assemble, however none of the pieces were missing and it wasn't any harder to put together than your average *** piece of furniture. I was able to easily assemble this by myself in about an hour or so tops. The quality is way better than I'd expected, and it's very sturdy and well-made. The charcoal grey upholstery and wood finish look exactly as they do in the photos, and there are even wood caps included to plug the screw holes. For under $400 you can't beat the style and quality of this - well done, Baxton Studio, well done!
I bought this bed because it was rated for up to 900 pounds and is made of actual wood. So far (3-4 months?) it has held up just fine under our 380ish pounds give or take the weight of our 7 year old jumping on it. Additionally, it was super easy to put together, 4 interlocking joints and a bunch of slats, maybe 10 minutes of effort tops. I do have a memory foam bed and the slats are a bit far for that. Adding slats would require a bit of carpentry that I would not attempt as the long braces are notched to accept the slats, but it might work to put some plywood or other firm board down on the existing slats. I would leave some give on the edges as the bed shifts when you move, and it squeaks too. I read somewhere that rubbing bar soap or wax on the parts where there is friction would help resolve the squeak, but I have not tried it yet. Overall, I am very happy with this bed. It is sturdy and looks great. I would buy it again, squeak or no squeak.
I had been looking at Murphy Beds for a long time and I saw this cabinet bed on Overstock and thought this would work even better for me. I need a guest room occasionally and I also want a sewing room. I had a day bed originally, but it still took up floor space that I needed for a small cutting table. I liked this particular bed that could be folded away most of the time and it can actually fit in any room as the cabinet bed looks like a cabinet and not a bed at all. The way it works, with the telescoping pull-out drawer, on rollers, provides a sturdy base for the mattress rather than just legs at the end of the mattress. It was well designed with how it works. Half of the top opens up and allows you to unlatch the cabinet doors that unfold into a wooden base for the mattress. The back half of the cabinet top does not move, which allows you to put a picture or decoration on top without having to move it when you use the bed. I thought that I could even place a TV would there - and it may be possible to watch from bed if you put your head at the foot of the bed. (Haven't tried it yet) At any rate, the mattress is about 6 inches deep - I bought a foam topper for it to make it more comfortable for my guests. Be sure to unpack and check out the whole thing out before the delivery people leave. The mattress and the drawer base are stored inside the cabinet so it will be easier for them to carry it into your house if they take them out first. The first one that was delivered, had some damage to the cabinet side, but Overstock replaced it quickly. It is VERY HEAVY. The cabinet is one piece and the drawer it sits on is also one piece - but it is heavy because of the way it telescopes out and is all wood. It is well worth it to pay the extra to have them bring it into the room where you will use it. I have 2 sets of stairs and the delivery men struggled with it. I am very pleased with my purchase!
