The bed is beautiful. It is sturdy and has an antiqued pitted look throughout. It is darker than depicted on my computer screen--not quite an espresso color but definitely a chocolatly brown. We ordered the queen sized storage bed. It takes at least 2 people to assemble. Be prepared for poor instructions. The placement of the headboard cross brace (where the bed frame would eventually be attached) was shown in the wrong position in the instructions. It showed in the bottom position when it needed to be in the top--problem is on the second page of the instructions (found in another box) it shows the correct position after the bed frame is attached. A lot of wasted time undoing everything. I would have given the bed 5 stars if the instructions had been correct. The bed itself is worth 5 stars and accommodates our memory foam mattress well. The drawers are a great addition for convenient access. Our queen size bed has a 5 1/2" clearance under the sides of the bed and there are stabilizers that run down the center of the bed frame to the floor. I've included pictures of the headboard including a closeup to show details in the wood--color and texture.
This bed shipped in two different packages. The first package I received was the base of the bed. The striation/texture of the fabric almost made it look denim so I was a bit concerned, but when the headboard arrived, I loved how it looked put together. It is a beautiful combination of masculine and feminine touches. It has been sturdy and looks a lot more expensive than what it is. I highly recommend this bed!
Pros: Easy instructions, easy assembly (Completed alone in a couple of hours. Thanks, everyone who suggested having a drill ready.) Color: deep navy blue is really nice, good color saturation and true to picture online, fabric has more of a fine wale texture than I was expecting, not exactly corduroy but not a flat texture either so looks richer than a flat microfiber. I had no idea what "flannelette" was when I purchased it but was pleasantly surprised. The frame structure is sturdy when squared and assembled. I was concerned about the thin legs but the bed is mostly supported by a set of adjustable steel legs in the center so the weight is not really on the wooden legs. My floors are uneven and the bed does not wobble. The slats make the memory foam mattress more comfortable than the box spring. There is a little more bounce/give than the flatter surface so I do like that. The small size. This bed adds about eight total inches end-to-end of length to a regular Queen size bed frame so it isn't bulky. Cons: Unwieldy boxes. If you can't easily lift or drag 60lbs alone it is a good idea to get help. The smell of the upholstery. The bed had an incredibly strong odor I can only describe as "China Factory" for about four days. Size- the whole point of the bed is that it is trim but there is no room for tucking covers between the end of the bed and the frame easily, most beds give an inch or two and this does not; the mattress sits flush against the footboard so you have to struggle a little to tuck in the blankets or it looks a bit sloppy, Overall a nice bed at a good price. Happy with this purchase.
