This a great bed, my only negative is that it wasn't as easy to set up as described . Use a drill to screw. Down the wood slats or you will suffer!! But now that is done and I am delighted with the bed. Nice and sturdy. Weathered nickel finish is very pretty.
I am quite happy with my metal bed! It was easy enough me to carry it into my home when they delivered it and I put it together all by myself without really any problem. And it looks real nice! My only trouble with it is, the height of the legs needs to be one inch higher so the storage containers can fit under the bed better. I can get them under the bed but it is real hard to get them pushed in or pulled out.
A few issues, but none of them were deal breakers: 1. Tricky to put together--some of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up quite right. 2. Finish much more matte than expected--not really a nickel finish. 3. Overall just a cheaper look than I expected.
My wife and I purchased this bed frame to go along with a new 14-inch King Slumber Solutions Memory Foam Mattress that we also purchased through Overstock and it is really stylish! We read the majority of the reviews before purchasing, to see what we were getting into and nothing in them scared us away or wasn't something that we had already planned to handle. Particularly with the support of the bed. The bed arrived in 7 business days and came in 4 separate boxes, however, we had it set up in under 30 minutes. It comes with roughly 12-14 slates to support the bed and these appear to be peoples biggest qualms about the quality of this bed. However, having read the reviews, we were prepared to deal with them. First, as your are spacing the support slats, it is going to appear like you have too many. What I would recommend, and what my wife and I did, is space them according to weight. For example, the majority of the weight from the bed and yourself will be from the middle moving towards the headboard, i.e. your waist to head. So space the slats to where you end up with more supporting that section of bed. Obviously, on the average person, your legs weigh less than your upper body, so fewer support slats are needed towards the bottom of the bed. Now, that is not to say, don't put any. Here is how it worked for us, we had 14 support slats with the King Size frame. So I first spaced the slats 5 - 6 inches apart, moving from the foot of the bed to the headboard. This landed me with 2 extra slats, so I placed that additional support at the head of the bed. Next, we purchased two twin size pieces of 1/2 inch particle board from Home Depot for just under $30 and placed these on the support slates to form a solid base for the bed. This provides additional support by giving the bed a solid uniform base on which to displace yours and the bed's weight. It also helps a memory foam bed retain its form by preventing the memory foam from "muffin topping" between the support slats. Sure it is a little extra cash and time to measure for the particle board, but I know it will be worth it in the long run. All in all, we are loving the design and look of this bed. It is solid wood, with a beautiful finish. Initially, it looks like it is going to sit really low, especially with a memory foam bed minus the box spring, but even without a box spring, it is only a few inches lower than traditional spring mattress/box spring combo. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a mid-century modern style without paying the $1500-$3000 for a similar solid wood frame bed from your big box furniture store. Last, as with everything my wife and I have bought from Overstock, read the reviews! They will save you a bundle in time and money! Look at the good with the bad and make your decision then. Reading the reviews allowed us to move forward with purchasing the bed and doing a little DIY, not to MAKE the bed sturdy, it already is, but to do something that will ensure it lasts far beyond what is expected. Also, go out around your local city or town and look at comparisons to get a good idea of what you want and if you want to forgo any savings to be able to get something you can see, feel and walk out the door with.
