This bed looks even better than in the picture. Wood is slightly distressed. Head-and footboard are very heavy. Had trouble assembling the headboard because one of the screws attached to the headboard pieces was rusted, we had to sew it off and run to the store to buy another heavy-duty screw. Best assembled by 2 people as bed is so heavy. Took longer than expected to assemble.
I really like the look of the bed and it is very sturdy and heavy. It was packed very well, so there were no issues. I did put it together by myself. I had to unpack and carry the headboard & foot board separately. It wasn't easy but I did get them upstairs by myself probably not a good idea but it worked. . I would say the footboard is more than 100 lbs so I kept the packing material around it. The legs of the headboard are not attached in the box, so some of the weight on that can be separated but it is probably around 90-100 lbs. Overall the bed was not difficult to put together, you need a good size area to work in so if you can move stuff or take apart your other bed first, it is a good idea. I do currently have a low-profile box spring and a mattress that is 11 inches. Due to the low-profile box spring, there is a visible gap between the mattress and the headboard. With the pillows there you cant see it, but my pillow does slip in the crack sometimes while sleeping. I will eventually get a new box spring because I really like the bed. It is a small annoyance, but nothing that really effected my thoughts of the bed.
Like the bed. Need to use a standard boxspring or you'll see the gap under the headboard, kinda a bummer with today's low profile boxsprings. Took awhile to put together but no big deal.
