We were looking for a platform bed to replace the noisy standard metal frame that goes under your box spring. We wanted a model that would be hidden when installed, and that would allow our custom head board that we already had. This model is almost exactly the size of our queen bed, but will hold a full bed too. For the queen bed, the only protrusion from underneath the mattress / box spring is the toe board by about 2 inches. The drawer at the foot of the bed works well and clears the floor -- you open it from its lower lip. The assembly is complex and requires good fabrication skills -- especially the drawer and centering the large top boards. There are several steps that require positioning the pieces manually with no tapped hole-to-hole alignment. The materials are almost all pressboard / chipboard laminated white on the visible sides. The design of the bed loads weight on the strong edges of the boards to still create a sturdy assembly if done correctly. The bottom floor piece of the drawer is a card-stock type material and is flimsy -- only suitable for blankets or lightweight materials. The drawer slides are disproportionately heavy duty however, probably 75-100 pound rated bearing slide. Overall when assembled this bed is sturdy and does not allow your bed to move around at all. We have both the box spring and mattress on this bed frame and it's a couple of inches higher altogether than when we were using the typical metal box spring frame.
