I needed a split boxspring to get it up the stairs into my bedroom. I would caution future buyers that this does put unusual stress on the slats providing support to your boxsprings and mattress. One of my slats busted from the pressure. As a remedy I went with adding additional slats for support.
I really hate to assemble furniture but this piece is pretty much impossible to put together wrong. It is very well labeled and looks great! I bought this to replace a chest of drawers from Ikea and like this one much better by far!
Obviously, this is not a piece of fine furniture, but for the price, it's attractive and functional. It takes up little floor space, so it fits in the limited space I have for it, but its drawers offer substantial storage space. It also is superior to a lot of assemble-it-yourself furniture because the drawers are on metal glides and therefore function very smoothly. I assembled it by myself, and except for the final steps of connecting the two sides, had no difficulty. The one problem I ran into was that some of the holes on one side were too small for the dowels provided. Luckily, I had slightly smaller dowels on hand that worked. Yes, it comes with a lot of little parts, but dealing with those is worth it in order to have the well-supported, smooth-sliding drawers. I've had lots of practice assembling furniture of this sort, so I understood that it would take time and attention to detail. The white finish is quite nice and had no chips or blemishes as particle board furniture pieces often do. The finish seems reasonably durable.
