My first initial reaction when opening up the boxes for the eLuxurySupply Artisan North American Hardwood Platform Bed was the quality of the material and the ease of set up process. The box was so much heavier than I anticipated, so I knew that this was going to be a high-quality, durable bed. I was astonished at how flawless the setup process was. You don't need any tools at all to set up this bed which I thought it was crazy. The finish was smooth for my liking, and no additional sanding were needed. The platform is very sturdy compare to the other beds that are out there. The best part about it is that it's made here in the US. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a classic wood platform bed. I bought the King size because I have a leesa mattress and it fits very nice. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone who is looking for a nice quality well built platform bed.
The bed frame turned out great. Before purchasing this bed frame, I carefully read the reviews and felt like I could assemble this product on my own. The reviewers were true to their word. The product came with all of the pieces and tools necessary to assemble. It was easy and quick. I now have an attractive, sturdy bed frame.
I've been having a lot of bad luck with bad products recently, so I wanted to commend one that was actually good. The whole frame came in one box that wasn't too heavy. Instructions were easy to follow and the bed was set up fairly quickly (Using a drill saved a lot of time). The frame seems well designed. Everything fit well when put together. It's light yet sturdy, no creaking or wobbling experienced at all. Seems like it could be easily disassembled and moved to another house/apartment if needed. Has cool Velcro to prevent slats from moving around and also some double tape to prevent your mattress/box spring from moving around.
When I first saw this foundation I was turned off because I had (another) thing to put together. Just moving into a new apartment, everything has to be put together. I didn't expect this to.
I went ahead and bought it and to my surprise after taking it out of the box, it was so simple and easy to put together, "even a caveman could do it". Not much effort at all. It took me, oh, about an hour and that was because I was eating breakfast in between and enjoying music.
By the way, it is very sturdy and looks great with the cover. I would recommend this over and over!!
Got this as a Christmas present for my daughter. My wife was hesitant about ordering furniture online. After checking around town, we could not find anything that matched the quality, features and price. Love the fact that it's all solid wood. The finish is beautiful. Very minimalistic - but sturdy and functional. Also, got the mattress for this frame from Overstock - love it too!!!
This bed is solid, a good value and well designed. I put it together by myself in about an hour with only a phillips head screw driver. The slats system is made from good wood and is well designed. The exterior boards look good and are good quality wood. The instructions are just fine. One of the drawings has one of the washers mislabeled but that was easy to figure out. Also the diagram shows that the places where the wood screws go into the side frame have pre-drilled holes to go into - they are in fact not pre-drilled but the wood screws are self-starting and really don't need to have pre-drilled holes. These are just minor discrepancies in the instructions. The bed looks just like the photos when assembled. It does not look inexpensive. One thing to note - the mattress sits on slats that are 6 inches from the floor. Do not be confused to thinking the mattress will sit 11 inches off the floor. The slats are inside the bed frame and therefore the mattress sits 6 inches off the floor. The top of the bed frame is at 11 inches.
Way sturdier than beds with slats, paired it with a 14inch gel memoryfoam mattress. Just make sure the base is perfectly square when you screw down the top boards or else the side moldings you have to attach afterwards will not match up properly.. learned that the hard way.
We finally upgraded to a King size bed/ memory foam and needed a slat frame. This one is beyond perfect. The height is the same if not a little higher than if we had a box spring. This really takes the place of the box spring. Easy to put together. Isn't squeaky (if bolted correctly) and you can barely see the metal frame once you put the comforter on. PLENTY of space in underneath!!! Love it. Hope it lasts a LONG time!!
I ordered this bed to upgrade one of two bedrooms in our walkout family suite. The range of prices for platform bed frames is all over the map and I was hoping to find a solid wood product to support our new king foam mattress at a reasonable price point. I found the Priage Rustic Oak and it looked like the the perfect fit. It arrived in a few days and I couldn't be more pleased as my wife and I assembled it in under one hour. The fit and finish was exceptional and the design and assembly was state of the art. A lot of design thought went into this product to simplify assembly and the build quality was fantastic. One of my favorite assembly projects ever. I can't say enough about it. I would purchase this again and recommend it to others as this product is well designed, easy to assemble and very sturdily built.
I looked at many options and read lots of reviews before purchasing two of these (queen size) to replace some old folding metal bed frames in a beach rental. These are so much nicer and I love the extra height of the frame. The price sure is right! Even though I had very little space to work in, assembly couldn't have been easier, and the directions are some of the clearest I've ever seen. They even provide you with an allen wrench - the only tool you'll need. At least one of the reviews I read stated that the mattress slides around on the frame, even with the sticky strips that come already attached to two of the slats. I didn't want anything sticky touching my mattress, so I didn't use them; instead I bought a 25 ft. roll of Rug Tape ($10 at Lowe's) for each frame and attached it to the slats (see photos). Problem solved! Be forewarned - the shipping box is pretty heavy, but I got it up two flights of stairs without TOO much of a problem (I'm a 54 y.o. fairly strong female).
I ordered this bed without any reviews to put in my guest room. I always am afraid to buy anything on OS without a review but this was just was I was looking for so I took a chance. GLAD I DID. It's super easy to put together, and it feels really sturdy and . . . shocker . . . came with all the pieces. I don't have a mattress on it yet, so I can't review it in terms of durability but it's a guest room and I'm sure it will do the trick. Beautiful stain color - very happy!
Nice detailed directions in English with detailed pictures. One person job for the most part, but at the end it helps to have some help tipping up the bed to apply the trim. Don't like the fiber board as a rule, but this serves the purpose for a guest room. Much less work assembling than the slat beds. Arrived in two very long and heavy boxes, which made the assembly a bit unwieldy. Overall, for the price, it is a good value.
I've struggled with insomnia the book of my life. I have tried every kind of mattress I can afford and I have changed my bed out more than most people change their cars. Recently I purchased a gel memory foam mattress and place it upon my box spring and it was very uncomfortable because it would sag. I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a new Foundation with Overstock. The frame arrived very quickly and I put it together and put my memory foam mattress on top of it and it is extremely comfortable. The lumbar support is incredible and I've noticed a huge difference in not only my comfort level but my ability to sleep for longer periods of time. This Frame is well constructed with quality woods and materials and I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you Overstock
This product is easy to assemble and sturdy enough to hold our heavy mattress. We had chronic problems with mattresses sagging in the middle before we bought this bed frame support. These three supports are plenty strong to hold any mattress. The only issue is that our bed frame, which is higher off the ground than most beds, was too tall for the supports. We had to put each support on a brick to extend the length. Overall, we're happy with this bed support
This bed came well packaged. Easy to put together. Heavy solid wood. The finish on three sides was perfect with the fourth side not quite so perfect but it's reclaimed wood and I'll put that side against wall. Instructions say slats might be tight but they are actually between a quarter to half inch on the short side. Don't have the mattress yet so I don't know if there will be any squeaking. All and all, I'm pleased with this purchase.
If you are looking for a full size bed frame this is NOT the frame for you. This platform bed, although described as a full is actually a full/queen which means it fits a queen perfectly and a full size mattress sloppily and this we did not discover until it was fully assembled. I'm so disappointed because I specifically purchased a full size mattress and bunky board prior to receiving the bed frame and now there is a two inch gap between the mattress and frame on all four sides. And because the platform is only 13 inches off the ground, it is impossible to find a bed skirt to fit it. They are all too long. So it makes hiding the gap a big problem. Sigh. This bed had so much promice but it did not deliver.
Love this bed. I was able to assemble this bed by myself in no time. It states you need 2 people to assemble but I was able to use my drill without lifting up the bed to add the edging at the end. Very sturdy. Will order another one.
Worked out perfectly for our needs. Our mattress sits on it perfectly. I would say 2% of the wood was not perfectly sanded as mentioned in other reviews, but 'common who actually see this? I took the risk of buying it any way and it turned out great.
Good choice so far. Have slept on this frame for a few nights. Seems solid and secure. Was relatively easy to assemble in about an hour. I like that it has good clearance off the floor. Am able to store luggage and such underneath. I would recommend this bed frame.
I was looking for an inexpensive platform bed for my daughter and found this one after some searching. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase, but be aware of what you're getting before you buy.
1. Low cost
2. Relatively solid
3. Simple construction (if you have the right tools)
4. Finish looks decent from a distance
5. Just 45 minutes from opening the box to adding the mattress (again, if you have the right tools)
6. Low cost again (That's why you're buying this bed after all, right?)
1. "Solid wood" construction is true, but it doesn't mean much. The rails are fingerjointed, meaning they're made up of multiple smaller pieces glued end to end. It's an OK approach for the money, but it's hardly fine furniture. The legs are solid is the same way a chunk of 2x4 is solid, that is to say lightweight wood in one piece, but again, they're nothing fancy. (In fact, they may actually be pieces of 2x4 cut and stained to look more upscale.)
2. The finish is sprayed on heavily, is very shiny, and only looks good from a distance. Up close, not-so-much.
3. The over-sized "feature" of the frame is just marketing language to cover poor engineering, I think. Yes, your blankets will probably cover the gap, but there's a good inch of space all around a standard twin mattress
4. The slats are a rather low-grade plywood and as such don't have a lot of bend strength. There are plenty of them, though, so it's probably not an issue for average-weight people. Just in case, I took my daughter's Bunky Board from her old bunk and put it on the frame to help add some rigidity to the slats
5. The screwdriver supplied to install the screws in the slats is a tiny pocket driver and *might* be good enough to open the battery compartment on a toy, but it certainly isn't capable of driving all the screws you need to attach the slats. A power drill with a driver bit is a much better option and will save you a lot of time and aggravation
6. My set came with four extra holes drilled in the headboard end. For me it's not a big deal since the bed is against a wall, but it's not a great sign of high-end quality control
This platform bed is beautiful and very sturdy. I was able to put it together by myself and the instructions were easy to follow. It works perfectly with the Espresso Tall Slant-Back Bookcase Headboard that I purchased.
This platform bed was our first furniture purchase through Overstock. It is made in China, but everything works and all the pieces were there. Don't be afraid of all the bolts and screws. It goes together very quickly as long as you have a power screwdriver. We put the center brace in the middle before screwing down the slats. We had the whole bed together in less than an hour. EASY and met our expectations. The price was really inexpensive too.
I have chronic joint pain which has led me to go through several mattresses and bedframes (poor wallet...).
After getting rid of my metal frame, I decided after a while to take a chance with this bed frame. I'm really happy I did.
1) The delivery of the bedframe came in TWO parts. Part one was the base components for the bedframe (the part that sits DIRECTLY on the floor.) and Part two were the trims and mattress/platform boards. While HEAVY to lift, I managed to do it since I live on the first floor and have very little stairs to deal with.
2) The instructions were very thorough. I also build lots of furniture coincidentally so the assembly was very easy. It's recommended that you have two people put this together, but one person can put this frame together. There is a part where you have to lift the bedframe to attach the trims to the baseboards, but you may be able to get around this with some patience.
3) the design itself is well thought out to space out the weight distribution. You essentially build several rectangles with the boards provided that act like foot beds on a traditional bedframe. With the wood being a sturdy as it is, even weight is maximized. I also did the standing test (I'm 5'6", 164lbs) and I never felt unstable. I also managed to build this in about an hour and a half. But I was also watching a movie and got distracted :)
After sleeping on this frame for a week, I haven't had this well of a rest in a very long time, even with my contour mattress. By far the most stable bed I've slept on in years, especially for the cost. My only wish is that the the mattress boards were finished/sealed to prevent splinters. I have a mattress protector but even so, that's a minor design flaw.
This set of bed slats worked perfectly for transforming my traditional bed frame into a platform for my memory foam mattress! The slats are all connected with a wove band so you just place them on one end of the frame and slide them into place! Absolutely perfect!!!

Wood Bed Frame Tips
Wood is a hearty material that can last a lifetime or longer if it is properly maintained, but it is also a relatively soft material that can be shaped and carved beautifully by a skilled artisan. Hand-crafted frames are an elegant addition to any decor and are also very easy to customize. They can be sanded and refinished to suit your preferences whenever you want, so when a bed frame becomes dull or worn, it can always be revitalized with a new stain or coat of paint. Many frames include matching headboards and footboards, and some that don’t can still accommodate a headboard that is bought separately. Bed frames that are built with wooden slats can provide flexible support beneath a mattress, extending its life by allowing it to breathe.
Wood vs. Metal
A bed frame that has been carefully crafted from wood can be more sturdy and reliable than some metal options. Many metallic frames feature simple welded joinery that eventually break down over time, either due to rusting or wear, but a bed frame with durable dovetail joinery can withstand many years of use and can be repaired more easily than metal beds when damaged. Beds made from sturdy wood are also quite heavy, making them less likely to creak and shift, while some metal beds may be more lightweight but more prone to squeaking.
Varieties of Wood
The appearance and durability of a bed frame depends greatly on what kind of lumber it is made from. Wooden furniture is crafted from either hardwood or softwood. Pine, fir, and poplar are all softwood, which is less dense than hardwood because it grows faster. Beds made from softwood are generally less sturdy than those made from hardwood, but they are also less expensive. More dense options like oak, walnut, and maple are all hardwood, which takes longer to grow and can be more expensive than softwood, but will generally last much longer. Each type of wood has a unique color, but can be stained or painted nearly any color you want.
