These stools are perfect with my decor. But WOW did one of them give us fits putting it together. One of the holes was slightly off line and the screw would not go in, no matter what we tried. The allen wrench is really long so you can’t make a full rotation, or even a half rotation for some of the screws. So even the screws that weren’t problematic took a really long time to tighten. I have to say that I probably wouldn’t order these again if I had the choice—just because it was such an ordeal to tighten the screws.
Height--perfect. Width is excellent because they narrower than most chairs, which allows for more seating around the island without it being to cramped. The narrower width and the swivel make it easy to get in and out of chair without banging into the person next to you or awkwardly pushing back the chair which is heaver and taller than a dining room chair would be. After almost 2 years with these chairs, I am amazed that they aren't rickety, the swivel feature works great, and they have held up really well. About once a year I need to flip all the chairs over and tighten the screws the allen wrench. I don't mind, for the price, convenience, etc, that these chairs offer. They weren't too bad to put together, once my husband got the hang of it. Again, for the price, design and quality, well worth it. The finish on the chairs is a little banged up (see lighter wood) at the height where the chair back hits the counter top if one swivels the chair into the countertop. Also, on the bars where one can rest one's feet (great feature), they are a little nicked up. But we have kids, friends, an active family and wear and tear from living life, so I don't mind or notice where the finish is worn away a little. They have really been very nicely functional chairs, perfect for lots of people in our kitchen. And they support adults and are easy for the little kids to climb into as well. Very comfortable chairs.
I wanted a set of leather bar stools to go with a beautiful brown leather Ethan Allen arm chair in my living room. Some chairs are made w a bonded leather and the feel is not the same, but these chairs have the same buttery softness and solid strength of my expense chair from Ethan Allen w/o the high price. Very happy.
