    • Best Rod I've Ever Owned
      Verified Purchase

Simple to install and works a charm with blackout drapes - not a speck of light gets through. Best use - with extra high and extra wide drapes to expand the appearance of window size and to maximize light from the window when drapes are open. I hung these four inches beyond the window frame on the sides and to the ceiling with 96 inch drapes. The shape of the rod allows the majority of the drape to draw to the wall outside the window coming just to the edge of the glass - the effect is more light - feels like I've expanded the windows! Great rods are easily mounted, too. I liked them so much I went back and purchased them for two other rooms.

    • Very nice!

Modern look, and I put them atop my 5' sliding doors, and could not put the center bracket in, because of needing to open all the way. It has been there for over a year in heavy traffic and no problems.

    • Q:

"Can this be mounted from the ceiling? "

      • A:

        no reason why you couldn't

      • A:

You could however it wouldn't then be a blackout rod for the curtain. I bought 2 of these and installed normally they really do block the light completely. It all depends on what you plan to use them for.

    • Q:

"What are the dimensions of the center bracket?"

    • Q:

"Is there two rods to each set, or do I need to buy two sets?"

      • A:

Hi, There is the center rod with is 48 inches and 2 shorter rods for each end which are about 24 inches and can be extended to add another two feet on each end so the total length of the rod can be up to eight feet. Practically speaking I don't know if you can get the full eight feet only used up to 78 inches. Hope this helps

    • Q:

"The projection is listed as being 3.5 to 5.5 inches. Elsewhere in this answer section it is said that this means that the projection is adjistable from 3.5 inches up to 5.5 inches. Question is, how exactly do you adjust the projection up to 5.5 inches?"

      • A:

I apologize for the confusion, the projection is fixed at 3.5 inches.

    • Q:

"How exactly do you adjust the projection to 5.5 inches. There doesn't seem to be any extensions on the side brackets."

      • A:

The projection is 5.5". It is fixed,no need for adjustment.

      • A:

The projection is listed as being "3.5 to 5.5 inches." Elsewhere in this answer section it is said that the projection is adjustable. But how do you adjust up to 5.5 inches?

      • A:

I apologize for the confusion, the projection is fixed at 3.5 inches. We have updated our website.

    • Q:

"How does one hang drapes on these rods? I don't see where they come apart to slide on the drapes?"

      • A:

This is two pieces of rod that connect in the middle and can be slid back and forth (one inside the other) to get the length you need. Yiu would put the drapes on one half and then connect in the middle.

      • A:

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your answer at all. How does the rod come apart? Do I have to remove it from the wall in order to clean and re-hang the drapes?

      • A:

The rod does come apart in the center.

      • A:

The rod unscrews from the disk. Its really very simple. : )

      • A:

The rod comes apart in 3 pieces(like a telescope with a center brace). I had 4 panels, put 2 on each side of the center brace. I hope this helps you.

    • Q:

"Is the rod strong enough to hang 120" curtains without the center support? I have to hang it in a place that I would not be able to use it."

      • A:

I would say that this rod is not strong enough to span 120 inches. It is mucher thinner than a normal rod. I have it on a 60 inch (5 foot) wide window and wouldn't want to push it much wider than that with this size diameter rod.

      • A:

I agree with the prior post in that the rod is thin and would not be strong enough to span 120 inches without the center support. I have the rod expanding 72 inches (6 feet) and I would not feel comfortable without the center support. It is a beautiful rod.

      • A:

I bought the 48"-84" rod to span a window 71" wide and hang two 120" long curtain panels. I needed to use the center support - without it, the rod sagged 1-2" below the supports and could not support the weight of the curtains. The curtains were not particularly heavy, and also purchased on overstock: Saville Solid Thermal Room-darkening Curtain Panel. Depending on how wide your window is, you may not need the center support, but I would recommend looking for another option. I am satisfied with this rod overall, but relative to other options the rod has a small diameter and is more prone to sag without the center support.

      • A:

No, it will sag in the middle

      • A:

My suggestion is to always use the center rod for this length.

      • A:

No. The center support is not strong enough without the center support.

      • A:

No, the center screws together. I tried that and the screw pulled out of the rod and the curtain dropped to the floor.

    • Q:

"I need a shorter rod. Any suggestions on which ones in a similar design I should consider?"

      • A:

The shortest length with this product is 48", and we don't carry shorter one.

    • Q:

"Looking for rod to hold plants. How much weight can these rods carry?"

      • A:

These rods do not have enough support in the attachments to hold the weight of plants. Best to buy dedicated plant hangers at a hardware store...

    • Q:

"Hello, How far is the innermost aspect of the rod from the wall? thanks"

      • A:

This curtain rod has a projection of 3.5 inches

    • Q:

" I had my handyman hang these rods and I'm not sure how to take them down to put the curtains on them. I don't see any instructions and I'm not sure how to do this. It looks like there's a small silver piece that maybe I need to unscrew? Thank you"

      • A:

Please contact Customer Care at this link https://help.overstock.com/app/contact_page. Thank you.

      • A:

The set screw is on rod where attaches to wall. Yes, unscrew to remove from piece in wall. Good Luck!

      • A:

There is a small screw on the end of the rod, it takes the little wrench that came with the rod to screw it in and unscrew it, once unscrewed you can take the rod off of the rod holder that is attached to the wall and place the curtains on. This can be done on either side of the rod.

    • Q:

      "what is the diameter?"

      • A:

The diameter of the curtain rod is about .625 inches.

    • Q:

"Do you have to take down the whole rod to launder the curtains or do they come in such a way that the curtains can be taken down to launder and leave the rods up? Thanks - John"

      • A:

If you mean do you have to take the brackets down to get the curtains off the rod, no, you don't.

    • Q:

"I need to know if the 66-120 inch rod comes with a center support. In the Q&A, there are two conflicting answers. One time the answer was "yes"; another time it was "no." Please advise. Thanks."

      • A:

Hello wkbc, we do apologize for the confusion, the curtain rod comes with a center support. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • Q:

"I need a rod that projects 6 inches. Do you have anything like that?"

      • A:

Hello traces8, the projection on this item is of the largest we have. Thank you for shopping with us!

    • Q:

"Hi! Is there a middle bracket to help support the rods?"

      • A:

    • Q:

"Does this rod used in conjunction with blackout curtains block the light coming into the room from the top of the window? Per the specs, the projection is 3.5-5.5 inches and it seems as if that would let a lot of light into the room through the space between the rod and the window."

      • A:

Hello pantone99, we recommend a different rod if you are concerned about the light entering a room. Thanks for shopping with us!

    • Q:

"Can you tell me how wide the circular base is on each side? Thank you!"

      • A:

Hello ashurst, the wall plate is 2 inches in diameter. Thank you for shopping with us.
