A great value! these curtains were so much nicer than I would have expected. The fabric feels like microfiber, instead of the hotel type that has a rubbery backing on it, and it drapes beautifully. The back tabs make it easier to pull the drapes open or closed, rather than the rod pocket--but you have the choice of either of them. I chose the natural beige, which is very neutral in color. I was afraid it would clash with the cream trim in the bedroom, but it doesn't somehow. It does take a little patience to iron out the packaging wrinkles, if that matters to you. The fact that they are machine washable and dryable is a BIG plus! They are also wide enough so that I was able to use one panel on each window (they come in pairs) and drape it to the side. Tiebacks are included, although it does not specifically state that in the ad. Overall, I am very pleased.

I ordered the navy blue ones for my one-year-old daughter's room. They worked out perfectly. She used to have trouble napping because the wooden blinds in her room allowed virtually all the sunlight in. Also, at her bedtime this time of year, it is still quite bright outside. These curtains saved the day (or night) for us! I didn't need the curtains to be 100% blackout, as these are not. But they really do darken the room considerably. In the mornings when she wakes up (6 to 6:30 am), I can't tell if the sun has risen or not until I open the curtains. As others have mentioned, the curtains look nice too; they have a nice flowing look to them. If you have really high standards about appearance, I would say these are not the curtains for you (i.e.,if you want something special for a formal dining room). Otherwise, these do the job and are just right. I also ordered a 48- to 88-inch telescoping curtain rod (1-inch diameter) from overstock.com. My husband installed it, and said it was pretty simple to install. Once the rod was up, the curtains are a breeze to put on. We used the tabs. The overstock.com website recommends at least twice the width of curtain panels to fit the width of your window. My baby room's window is quite large and has a width of 5 feet. I thought I would have to use two sets of panels, but actually one set of panels works just fine for my taste. Yes, the panels lie kind of flat when completely closed, but honestly, it's the baby room. It doesn't have to be perfect!! And I think they look quite nice! And finally, you can't beat the value. I was considering ordering some custom-made blackout curtains. For the large size of the window, the prices were ridiculous! For materials, labor, and installation for the most basic of blackout curtains, it would have run me $700 and up! I am so thankful I found these on overstock.com! Oh, and I also washed them in the washer and dryer, following the manufacturer's instructions. No problems. I definitely recommend these curtains to anyone requiring darkening of their room.

    • Love These Curtains!
      Verified Purchase

Searched high and low for blackout (not room darkening) curtains, took awhile to find some online that got great reviews. Not only do I love Overstock but I always love the products I get and these curtains were no exception. I bought the Pink curtains in 63" long for my 3 year old daughters room. She desperately needs blackout curtains so that maybe we can all start sleeping in until at least 8 AM on the weekends instead of her waking us up at the crack of dawn because "the sun is up!" as she says. These curtains are soft and came right out of the package with really no wrinkles. They hang beautifully and come with tie backs. The curtains are heavier material and need a sturdy rod. You can hang them either through the top hole for a "crunched" top look or there are also tabs on the back top of the curtains and you can slide the rod through this way to give them a casual look. These curtains black out 99.9% of the room as the package states. There might be a tiny bit of sun that barely seeps through if the sun is beating on your window. We also have mini blinds behind the curtain and when we use them in combo with the curtain my daughters room is completely black.

    • Would buy again and again
      Verified Purchase

I ordered these curtains for about every room in my house and I love them. They keep the room extremely dark. The only light that is let in is the light that comes from the top because when a curtain is hung on a rod it is a few inches out from the wall or window so yes some light does escape but not because of the curtain. They are very soft and are of a good quality material. There are crease removal directions that come with your product because they are folded up obviously and if you follow the instructions the creases really do come right out!! I am a very indecisive buyer especially when you can't see, hold, and feel a product before purchasing and i read all the reviews and even wondered who was writing the reviews and I am here to say this is a real purchaser and I am very satisfied with these curtains. Also I should add, I did have one small issue, out of 9 panels i purchased 1 had a run down it that is probably a foot to a foot and half long and by "run" i mean kinda like a womens panty hose when they get a run in them or a snag. Anyway, I contacted customer service and I will be receiving a new one in 5-10 business days and a free shipping label to return my defected curtain panel. I really do hope this review helps someone else out who is questioning buying this product. I took a chance, never have ordered from overstock before and I definitely would again. These curtains truly do hold there purpose, great quality, elegant, and are true blackout curtains not to mention they are the same color on both sides not the white on the backside! Go ahead try them and see if you don't like them return them with Overstocks easy return policy.

    • Wheat color?
      Verified Purchase

I bought two solid insulated thermal 63-inch blackout panel pairs--one for our family room and one for our bedroom. The Cardinal Red is a beautiful, deep red that matches my home and the on-line color sample. However, the Wheat is no where near the yellow or gold on-line sample. It is plainly Tan. I will be sending them back. Too bad it didn't workout because they are quite nice. The fabric feels silky and after only a few minutes in the dryer all the wrinkles came out. They truly block out any light. I'm very happy with my Cardinal Red pair.

"Is each panel 63 inches long x 52 inches wide? or are both panels together equal to 52 inches?"

    • Q:

"Do they come with the rod? If not, what rod(s) goes with them?"

      • A:

The rod in the picture is what we are using and I believe any rod would work. Curtains have a pocket on back that slides through rod.

      • A:

They do not come with the rod. I agree with Jennifer K. Almost any rod will work.

      • A:

Yes a rod of thin to medium-thick will work with the curtain easily sliding. I just got a standard one at ***** and it works great.

    • Q:

"Will it keep the cold out?"

      • A:

Not sure about the cold but it definitely keeps the heat out.

      • A:

Not really sure. I live in Hawaii and bought them just for blocking light. Sorry.

      • A:

Although they are not lined, they are a fairly thick silky fabric, and they do aid in keeping out the cold. I hung them in a back bedroom over mini-blinds. The temperature in the room has been one degree warmer in the winter since I have put them up. Also, I don't feel drafts around the window like I did before. I hope this helps.

      • A:

Yes, it does help to keep the cold & draft out. I bought it to keep out the cold & excess light. Nice polyester material, relatively thick, smooth, hangs well, & is machine washable, so very low maintenance. I also bought the same brand curtains with antique bronze grommet tops & tulle sheer (the mix & match curtains). The grommet tops allow the curtains to wrap around the sides of the windows to block out draft. The sheer adds elegance.

      • A:

It does keep out the cold or keeps the heat in. Wonderful purchase and I am going to order more.

      • A:

Yes- they are heavy enough to keep the cold out. I moved from Florida to NC , so I was looking for some insulation too.

      • A:

It does keep the drafts out!

      • A:

Yes it does help keep the cold out. I have these hanging in my spare bedroom and when it is really cold out in the winter I keep them closed in the day to help insulate the room.

      • A:

They help us ~ we have single paned windows and double paned windows. ( However, I don't know how cold it gets where you live, nor how strong of winds you get, nor what type of windows you may have.)

      • A:

I have a friend that I gave a set of curtains to and it keeps the heat out and blocks the sun. And it does help keep the cool air back some depending on the length of your curtains.

      • A:

It does help to keep the room cooler from the heat. the material is substantial and would help with cold also. I am in Florida so don't get a lot of that but the material is good and sturdy so I would think so. I love these..

      • A:

Yes they do a good job keeping the cold out!

      • A:

        I feel they do

      • A:

I have these curtains in the two coldest rooms in my house and it does help with blocking the cold air from circulating throughout the rooms.

      • A:

Yes. They are thick and make a big difference for keeping cold out when they are closed.

      • A:

Yes, the curtains keep the cold out. They are a little heavy so I had to purchase stonger rods to hold them up.

      • A:

Yes, it does. We placed it in our living room and it does a good job of insulating

      • A:

We do think it helps alot with keeping cold out!

      • A:

It will help, try are heavy material, however they are not rubber backed and I do no like the rubber backed because usually the rubber comes off when you wash the drapes. These are quality drapes at a reasonable prices.

    • Q:

"How big is the rod pocket? "

      • A:

At least large enough for a 1 inch rod, which is what I have. (unable to measure them now)

      • A:

I measured 3 inches flat. It has a pocket rod space area so you can run the rod straight through and there are also strips on the back of the pocket rod area that you can use for a different way it hangs, more gathering look or a pleated look. Using the back strips you can for sure use a 2 inch rod. I have it going through the strips for a pleaded look also on a 1 inch rod in a bedroom.

      • A:

        About 2.5 inches

      • A:

Plenty large enough for a 1" rod, hang beautifully, truly do black out the light.

      • A:

        It's about 1-1/2 to 2 inches.

      • A:

The rod pocket is 3.5 inches.

      • A:

The back is the same color as the front. 2 panels.

      • A:

Each panel is a heavy-weight polyester fabric and there is no backing. There are two panels per package.

      • A:

Blue, same as the front. Blackouts light. Love them

      • A:

yes, back and front same color. two per package.

      • A:

There isn't any backing to get hot and peel off. I was worried about that. The curtains are wonderful. strap slip for assembly . keep out cold Buy them youll be glad you did

      • A:

There is no backing. Somehow the curtain material just keeps light and temperature out.

      • A:

There are actually no backings just the reverse side of it which is the same color. There were two panels (pairs) per package.

      • A:

Yes, 2 panels per pkg & I'm not sure about backing ...white or cream I think

      • A:

        2. 63" long

      • A:

The backing is white. There are two panels and tie backs in each package. I would buy again. Nice fabric.

"is the quantity shown limited to 2 pair or two panels would you be able to purchase more the two pair"

Two panels in one bag. I bought extra and they work wonderfully! I bought the gray and they are excellent for blocking light!!

      • A:

The package brings 2 pieces (one pair). I believe you can purchase as many as you select depending on your budget. I bought for my bedroom, living room, and guest room different sizes and colors. I am very pleased!

      • A:

There are two panels per package. I don't see why you can't buy as many as you wish. If it's a long window (over 88") in length, I would recommend buying 2 packages. That's what I did. For a little panache, I mixed brown and grey panels, hence buying 2 sets as the window in very long. (106"). I hope this helps. Peace out.

"Will this thermal curtain help during heavy winter? I live in chicago and I need some curtain so that my heater can work little better. Please recommend any or will this one work? My window is 23inches wide, and there are 2 windows of that size. Can I just buy one of the thermal curtain so I can use for both?"

      • A:

the black outs are great used as a thermo barrier, but I think they only come as a pair. I think 63 inches is the smallest. I think they are great, if you can sew u can change them.

      • A:

Yes, I think that would work. You may have a tough time compressing them enough to get them on the rod since they are so wide and the material is thick. I was able to compress them to put two on a rod for a 30 inch window.

      • A:

YES. Purchase a 2-panel offer. My windows are same size. Get 2 for 1 curtains! Drop curtain rod to maximize 63" curtain length. Definitely works this way. Though, take into consideration that I am now in temp zone 7-8. I have purchased additional curtains to maximize my energy efficiency and reduced significantly. On warmer days I pull back to allow sunlight. Have single pane windows. I highly recommend as a former Michigan resident!

      • A:

These are great for keeping the light out and hold the cold too Nice heavy lined and still soft and attractive.

      • A:

I love these curtains. I live in NC it was a great help in the summer

      • A:

The curtains are 63" in length each. Since this reads they are 52" in width, one will work perfectly for your 23" window. Therefore, you will only have to buy one pr for your two windows. Hope that helps! (Length = up & down / width = across)

      • A:

Yes I purchased more, it was tricky finding the quantity place on the purchase, as I recall it was way over on the far right in a box above some other info. I hope this helps.

      • A:

I have had mine hung on a variety of rods: one set on a dowel stick that is a little over 4" measured around (sold in hardware stores for closets, I think), a store bought rod that is about 1" measured around, and the majority of sets on rods purchased from "O" like this: ITEM#: 18606764. The 63" refers the the length of the curtain, not the width. I believe the width of 52" is for the pair, as that is how they are sold. You can buy two sets of pairs & use 3 panels on your windows, or sew them to your desired width, if you are handy with a sewing machine. Just an FYI: curtains usually come in 2 lengths, either 63" or 84". Hope that helps.

    • Q:

"Can the panels be easily altered/hemmed if they are too long?"

      • A:

Yes, I can't see any reason it would be difficult.

      • A:

Yes, they can be easily hemmed and I hemmed by hand. Very nice drapes..

      • A:

I would say yes. I had bought 2 pair of 63" panels, took them to the tailors and asked them to make 1 pair of 124" panels. They did do an awesome job on them, mind you it cost me an extra $* CDN. I would say if you want to shorten the length then it should be quite a bit cheaper. Bill
