I bought these for my son's living room he really likes them with the tie ups, his other curtains would get stuck behind the sofa and when the dog would look out the window it would pull on the rod and curtains. These are great.

I have this hung in the one window in my dining room. Living in an apartment, I was looking for some privacy as well as blocking some of the morning sun. It does block sufficiently, but it could be a bit more generous in sizing in order to drape it to what I would like.

The shade didn't fit our windows, so we had to return. Process was easy, seemed like a good enough product.

I bought 3 of these for my granddaughter's new "big girl" room and, WOW!, were we impressed!!! I'm a careful shopper - knew what I wanted to get her, read the reviews, made sure it was OK with her parents, and then ordered them. First, the fabric is amazing - VERY HIGH QUALITY! (I worked in a textile market at one time and know enough about fabrics to speak intelligently on the subject.) The granddaughter's new room is in the front of their home and has windows facing the south and west so I knew they needed something that was going to be insulating and block the sun - these fit the bill perfectly. They look so nice hanging and everyone that has seen them has commented on them in a positive way. I've got to tell you I truly wish there were more colors available because I'm seriously considering buying more for use in my own home!!!

Purchased these black out curtains for front bedroom(2) dormers that had starlight, moonlight, sunlight and street light streaming through them at all hours of the day and night. When I had a house full of guest coming, I ordered and put up this shade and it blocked all light at night and about 90% of East/South sunlight exposure during the day. I would highly recommend these to all night shift workers like myself because after 30 years of sleepless days, I can finally get a good days rest. I purchased the black out curtains and they provide a 90% decrease in room light. I've since put a valance over the window and have to use a room light or flash light during the day to see it's that dark. I am a 30 year night shift veteran.....Buy them!!! Buy them in the darkest color available (Ihave navy blue and black) and get a good night sleep.

I love these Roman Tie-up Shades! The colors are true, material is soft, and looks nice from both inside and out. I had plain white black out shades in my sons room, awful looking, but did the job. These black out all the light, keep the room cool AND look great. They stand up to washing and drying as well! I bought four, 2 in Navy and 2 in Burgundy.

I ordered and got my product quickly! They are great much better than the heavy thermal insulated drapes and the black out shade keeps out sun and heat. I will buy more for other rooms in my home. I am very pleased with this buy!!!

Great blockout drape with a beautiful light blue fabric on inside to look at as well!! My husband works nights & sleeps during daylight hours so a "true blackout" feature was top priority. I'm ordering more asap.

    • Q:

"I have a winder that is 50 Inches wide, and it says the width is 42-49. I need to know if it is 49?"

      • A:

This shade measures approximately 42 inches wide x 63 inches long.

    • Q:

"I have a window that is 46 inches wide, inside measurement. I plan to use a tension rod. Would this curtain work. I don't understand the measurements. It says in one place it is 42" wide and in another place it says up to 49 inches?"

      • A:

        this curtain is Velcro

      • A:

No it would not fit. the maximum of window width is 31 inches.

      • A:

My windows are 38" wide. Tension rod would be fine. I've had them on two windows, and they are great!

    • Q:

"I am confused as to the full WIDTH of the curtain. The Details say it measures: 63 inches long x 42 inches, But the Specs state: Length 63 Inches Blind Width is 40 - 49 Inches Which is the full width, 42" or 49"?"

      • A:

I just ordered this curtain in black for a window that measured 40.5" wide. I thought a 42" curtain width would allow 3/4" on both sides (which in my case would be perfect). I was disappointed to find the curtain barely wide enough to cover 40.5" (inside edge to inside edge). One solution would be to use a pressure rod inside the sill, but as I had levolors already installed, there wasn't room for a rod. I'll have to return it--which bums me out because the curtain is a nice weight, well made and the fabric is great. It would definitely block even strong light. Maybe it says 42-49" because the width is variable?? This is the first time something I purchased from Overstock didn't measure up to its description, so I'm not discouraged--just bummed.

    • Q:

"I have a 96 inch wide window in 3 sections. The center section is 44 inch wide. If I buy 4 panels and use ring clips with the center panels rolled and the two ends left hanging will this be too much material ?"

      • A:

Joy, I would definitely say that would be too much material. Two would be WAY plenty because this panel is 63" and you've got 126" to work with.

      • A:

63" is the LENGTH, not width.

    • Q:

"I have a window that is 35" in length. If I tie this as tight as it will go, about how much window will show?"

      • A:

        It will be about 17"

      • A:

The top of the curtain to where the ties start is 14 inches, therefore 21 inches of your window will show. Hope that helps. :-)

    • Q:

"Is material matte or does it have a silky shiny look to it?"

      • A:

no it is more a matte finish

      • A:

I have in gray and beige. Matte finish on both.

      • A:

        Agree, nice matte finish, awesome!!!!

      • A:

More of a matte finish. Very nice!!

      • A:

        It is matte

      • A:

        It's a thick material.

      • A:

bought burgandy and it's a beautiful matte finish, love them

      • A:

MATTE. NO SHINY LOOK AT ALL

    • Q:

"will this work with 31 inch window with tension rod"

      • A:

        No with the tension rod.

      • A:

I think so. It would look slightly different because it would be gathered more with a smaller window but I think it would look ok.

      • A:

Yes, it works with a tension rod - Room/Dividers/Now for my 28 inch window.

      Read more Read less
    • Q:

"Will this work with a 36 inch window?"

      • A:

In length YES. in width NO

      • A:

Of course it will work with a 36 inch window as long as you have more than a foot on each side of the window to allow for the width of the curtain.

      • A:

Yes it will work but it can only be brought up so far then they are black outs so if most of the window is covered it is pretty dark but it will work

      • A:

I have mine covering a 39 inch wide window. The fact that it is uses a curtain rod allows for scrunching. If you want it perfectly flat, you need to buy the exact size. I'm using a tension rod on the inside of my window frame.

      • A:

        yes it will fit

      • A:

yes my window is 36 width and it looks great I have beige the ties give you what height you want and looks even better from outside and in

      • A:

My window is 36in width and it looks great from inside house and outside the ties really add to beauty great blackout also

    • Q:

"what diameter rod do these fit?"

      • A:

You can use any rods up to 1.5" diameter.

    • Q:

"Is this shade too wide for a 28" window (older colonial home)? I am not sure how the ties will look if I have to scrunch up the shade to fit the window size."

      • A:

It might be too much material for a 28" window, but it is very forgiving. You can play with the ties and the pleating. Sorry cant be more help, maybe take a sheet and fold it to match the shade with to see if it looks like it might be too much.

      • A:

It measures 42" wide I have it in 36" wide x 42" long window. I wish I has a couple of inches of slack in width since when you tie it it does pull the curtain in on the bottom on both sides 2-3" each. It does have some weight to it so make sure your curtain rod is a least 7/8" in diameter.

    • Q:

"Can this shade easily be taken in on the length or width if your window is smaller?"

      • A:

Absolutely! Very nice and good quality!

      • A:

Yes. Even someone with basic sewing skills can adjust width or length.

    • Q:

"Do these work better with a regular curtain rod or a wraparound rod? Thanks!"

      • A:

Sorry, only used on a flat rod. No idea about curved.

      • A:

        yes any rod

      • A:

Not sure what a wrap around rod is, but I used the finial end rod like the one pictured. The opening is large enough to use the flat rods also. Fantastic curtains and great quality.

      • A:

I am using them on a traditional rod, as well. I am pleased with them.

      • A:

I have three of them and there on strait rods but if you used curved, I personally don't think it will work well when you want to raise the curtain, they look really cute when raised and when there down they really do block out the light.

      • A:

It works same way with both rods.

    • Q:

"What size curtain rod is needed for these i just bought four of them and my existing curtain rods are too big for the opening (it is VERY Small on these curtains). What size do i need? I was hoping it would be more universal and not so small. Thank you"

      • A:

I used two of these over a 6 foot window.

    • Q:

"Can these be used under regular drapes like a roller shade? Do you have any swatches available?"

      • A:

No, these are curtains and are too bulky to be used underneath other curtains. They would not look right.

      • A:

No they are to thick to be used like that very nice buy its self I have mine in the kitchen and I love the way they look and when I but them up it looks very fancy

    • Q:

"Out of the grey and dove which is darker? They're washable, can they go in the dryer also? "

      • A:

Grey color is darker than Dove. Yes, those are machine washable and you can dry with low temperature.

    • Q:

"Hi, Which color is lighter- the beige or the wheat? Im looking for a more cream color"

      • A:

Beige the wheat is a golden color

      • A:

The wheat is really dark so I would suggest you go with the beige.

    • Q:

"what color is DOVE? It looks like a light grey online - but I bought a dark gray that actually have blue hues - which isn't what I wanted. So I'm looking for a more detailed description of DOVE to avoid further surprises. Thanks."

      • A:

There may be blue undertones, but I would not mistake the shades for a blue color. They are medium gray color. My walls are a lilac tone and the shades are neutral color I was looking for.

    • Q:

"Why can I not get this in light pink? When it shows this as an option for 1 of the choices. "

      • A:

Unfortunately, we are currently out of stock for the "light pink". We hope to restock this color but cannot guarantee it.

    • Q:

"Hi what are the exact width and length dimensions for this shade"

      • A:

This item is approximately 63 inches long x 42 inches wide.
