I bought 3 of these for my granddaughter's new "big girl" room and, WOW!, were we impressed!!! I'm a careful shopper - knew what I wanted to get her, read the reviews, made sure it was OK with her parents, and then ordered them. First, the fabric is amazing - VERY HIGH QUALITY! (I worked in a textile market at one time and know enough about fabrics to speak intelligently on the subject.) The granddaughter's new room is in the front of their home and has windows facing the south and west so I knew they needed something that was going to be insulating and block the sun - these fit the bill perfectly. They look so nice hanging and everyone that has seen them has commented on them in a positive way. I've got to tell you I truly wish there were more colors available because I'm seriously considering buying more for use in my own home!!!

    • nice curtains, not wide enough

Overall, these are great curtains that really do a good job of blocking light. However, they are not 42 inches wide, more like 37 inches. Also, when reading the description of these, in one spot it says length is 63 inches and in another spot they say 60 inches. They are 60 inches in length. so they are a little short when down and do let some light in at the bottom. I had to put two on one window because they weren't the width that was stated. When you tie them up they look really nice in the room.

Purchased these black out curtains for front bedroom(2) dormers that had starlight, moonlight, sunlight and street light streaming through them at all hours of the day and night. When I had a house full of guest coming, I ordered and put up this shade and it blocked all light at night and about 90% of East/South sunlight exposure during the day. I would highly recommend these to all night shift workers like myself because after 30 years of sleepless days, I can finally get a good days rest. I purchased the black out curtains and they provide a 90% decrease in room light. I've since put a valance over the window and have to use a room light or flash light during the day to see it's that dark. I am a 30 year night shift veteran.....Buy them!!! Buy them in the darkest color available (Ihave navy blue and black) and get a good night sleep.

The Aurora Home Solid Insulated 63-inch Blackout Tie Up Shades were perfectly for my need! My husband works third shift so he sleeps during the day. Regular vinyl pull down shades were not keeping the room dark enough for him even though they were blackout ones. I went on a search and found these beautiful fabric shades on Overstock. They arrived quickly and when I opened the package I could hardly believe the high quality of these shades! The fabric is very thick and so soft. We installed the shades right away and they worked perfectly! Not only do they block out ALL the light their insulating is great too! I highly recommend these shades if you sleep days or have drafty windows. They are keeping the room cooler during our hot Texas summers and warmer during the winter season. Try them...you'll be glad you did!

    • These are really great shades.

      Option: Cardinal Red

I use to have black velvet black out curtains up but they made the room look too dingy for my liking. I then bought some beautiful curtains that are made from a material that is almost like fishnet. I didn't think much of the light coming through since we had mini-blinds up as well. While our bedroom windows face East but we don't get much natural light in any areas of our home because our street is lined with many trees. After about 2 days of the new curtains up my husband was not amused by the light coming in. I thought it might look cool to put red curtains behind the black mesh curtains or to sew red material on to the back of the black curtains. While researching inexpensive red black out curtains so I could sew them to the backs of our mesh black curtains I came across these. They were priced a bit higher than I wanted to pay but once I read the reviews I decided to go for it. I'm so glad that I did. I chose red and they were a true blue-based red. Many times I order something that is supposedly blue based red only to receive orange based red which I don't like. These curtains looked even higher quality in person than they do in the photographs. I decided to throw away the ages old mini-blinds which mean these shades needed to block out a lot more light. These do that and then some. They look so nice. If you are a lazy person who doesn't want to have to fuss with hand rolling the shade up to tie it up these might not be for you but if you don't mind having to spend a few minutes doing that then you should give these a try. We don't put these up too often since they are in our bedroom but we love them so much we are considering replacing all the mini-blinds in the living room with these. The only thing I didn't like wasn't the fault of O.com or the maker of these shades and that is that we live in a Victorian aged home so our windows are larger than modern day windows. So even with the shades stretched to their full width there is about a 2 centimeter sliver at both ends. Since the shades block so much light those two slivers are like looking into the burning eye of Sauron.

I just received this shade in black couple days ago and I absolutely love it!! I already ordered one more since I actually needed two shades but wanted to make sure that it is what I want. I live in Europe and was planning to buy second one from the local store but changed my mind since this is just perfect! Also there is no shades like this in stores here. Looks very pretty when tied up. If you need a blackout shade I would definitely recommend the Aurora Home Solid Insulated Blackout Tie Up Shade!

I love these Roman Tie-up Shades! The colors are true, material is soft, and looks nice from both inside and out. I had plain white black out shades in my sons room, awful looking, but did the job. These black out all the light, keep the room cool AND look great. They stand up to washing and drying as well! I bought four, 2 in Navy and 2 in Burgundy.

    • Great Curtains!!

      Option: ROYAL BLUE

We have done almost every room in our new home with these curtains. We have used the dotted, embossed, solid, and hotel stripe - in many of the colors available. We also have one of the tie up shades. All were the same brand and we love them! I wish they came in a 72 inch length... we brought some 84 length to a cleaner and had them hemmed. We liked the curtains so much and the price was such a value - even with hemming fee we still did well! We varied the styles and colors - and needed the thermal quality to help with heat loss. We have noticed a difference and in the evenings putting your hand on the other side of the curtain you can really feel it! We used them on sliding glass doors, large windows and bay windows. They were hung mostly on decorative rods, and the tab back or rod pocket option that these curtains have is great... the back tabs slid open looks almost like pleats. They travel easily on rods - no need for rings. We have long curtains in dark and light colors - and dark and light dogs. I was worried about static and picking up hair... have not noticed too much of a problem. Thank you Overstock!

I bought these with a particular window in mind...ones with through the wall air conditioner beneath. By raising the rods almost to the ceiling, these curtains are positioned to be adjustable at any level, giving sun and light control with an appearance that lengthens the room but doesn't interfere with heating and air-conditioning.

These blinds look great and block out the light and heat very well. I bought them because there is a street light directly outside my apartment window. I put them down at night and it blocks it completely. When I pull them up in the morning, I'm hit with a wall of heat from the sun beating in, so keeping them down while I'm at work also keeps my apartment cool. I love rich, vibrant colors and the royal blue I bought is exactly that. I would definitely recommend these blinds for the price.

    • Blacks EVERYTHING OUT!

This thing blacks out EVERYTHING. We live between 3 apt buildings, so there are security lights all over the place. You can navigate our house at midnight with no lights on. I bought thss for my daughters bathroom which overlooks a parking lot with lots of light, and has frosted glass, so this is just for night.. When the curtain it down, it is BLACK in there. She has a night light to find her way around to the potty at night. I knew it would be longer then the window, so I am going to shorten it. The bathroom is original to the house, in period 40's with pink, black and white, so I bought this in black to go with the style, matches perfectly. If I hadn't already ordered blinds for her bedroom I would have ordered these in a different color for her bedroom.

I purchased the black shades and they exceeded my expectations! The material is a much higher quality than anything I have been able to find locally in the 'big' dept stores. Workmanship is exceptional, sometimes buying more than one panel can result in different lengths, loose threads, hem issues. These look great either down for a complete black-out effect or rolled up and secured with the ties. I have these shades (black) paired up with apple green and cream and I love the entire look!

I have been very lucky in my choices with Overstock. It's hard when you don't have the item in front of you to actually feel and look at. Their Insulated Blackout Tie Up curtains are awesome. The fabric is nicely weighted and feels wonderful. I love the black out feature. I purchased 2 Navy blue ones for my double window in the bedroom, as they come in a package of one. Then I bought a white single for my little window in the bathroom. I was initially concerned that white would not block out the light, but it does! There are 4 ties sewed onto the curtains (one on each side of the back and the front) which gives you any number of ways to tie them open and and they lay very nicely when you want to close them. I highly recommend these!!

    • Q:

"How far in length do the curtains tie up. Meaning my window is 45" long. Will these work at my window? The example above is runched and looks great. But 18" might be too much??"

    • Q:

      "What color is the lining?"

      • A:

There is no lining, the fabric is thick.

    • Q:

"What color is shown in picture?"

      • A:

        The color is Beige

    • Q:

"I have a winder that is 50 Inches wide, and it says the width is 42-49. I need to know if it is 49?"

      • A:

This shade measures approximately 42 inches wide x 63 inches long.

      • A:

It will fit up to 49" wide so I believe you are safe.

    • Q:

"I have a window that is 46 inches wide, inside measurement. I plan to use a tension rod. Would this curtain work. I don't understand the measurements. It says in one place it is 42" wide and in another place it says up to 49 inches?"

      • A:

        this curtain is Velcro

      • A:

No it would not fit. the maximum of window width is 31 inches.

      • A:

My windows are 38" wide. Tension rod would be fine. I've had them on two windows, and they are great!

    • Q:

"I am confused as to the full WIDTH of the curtain. The Details say it measures: 63 inches long x 42 inches, But the Specs state: Length 63 Inches Blind Width is 40 - 49 Inches Which is the full width, 42" or 49"?"

      • A:

I just ordered this curtain in black for a window that measured 40.5" wide. I thought a 42" curtain width would allow 3/4" on both sides (which in my case would be perfect). I was disappointed to find the curtain barely wide enough to cover 40.5" (inside edge to inside edge). One solution would be to use a pressure rod inside the sill, but as I had levolors already installed, there wasn't room for a rod. I'll have to return it--which bums me out because the curtain is a nice weight, well made and the fabric is great. It would definitely block even strong light. Maybe it says 42-49" because the width is variable?? This is the first time something I purchased from Overstock didn't measure up to its description, so I'm not discouraged--just bummed.

      • A:

The measurements mean it will fit 42"-49" wide. It's perfect

    • Q:

"I have a 96 inch wide window in 3 sections. The center section is 44 inch wide. If I buy 4 panels and use ring clips with the center panels rolled and the two ends left hanging will this be too much material ?"

      • A:

Joy, I would definitely say that would be too much material. Two would be WAY plenty because this panel is 63" and you've got 126" to work with.

      • A:

63" is the LENGTH, not width.
