Apparently, I can't get enough of these curtains. The black out feature is very good. The material is think and drapes well. Not the hard, thick. Material found in other black out curtains. I would recommend them to anyone needing good quality curtains.

    • Really nice!

I'm so happy with these blackout curtains! I ordered 2 sets for a large double wide window measuring 80" wide and hung them on a rod with matching clip-on rings, (also from Overstock,) that I extended to 106" wide. This creates the illusion of a much wider window and allows me to pull the curtains open and have the bulk of the fabric on either side without blocking the view. When the curtains are pulled closed there is still plenty of material to create soft folds across the window. This blocks about 95% of the light through this east-facing window.I bought the gray which is more of a blue-gray, as another reviewer mentioned. It works beautifully with my soft gray carpet even though there is no blue tone to the carpet color. The curtain fabric is the same color on both sides and has a somewhat heavy, yet soft, silky texture that drapes beautifully. I was surprised that the thread used was white, not gray, and the hem is just straight stitched, not a more hidden hem-stitch that I would have used if I made them myself. I thought that was going to be pretty noticeable but frankly, now that they are hung, it doesn't bother me enough to complain. I ironed them before hanging them, although they weren't overly wrinkled. Overall, the look is beautiful, they block the light effectively and I would definately buy them again at this great price.

    • Already Notice A Difference
      Verified Purchase

I compared this product with 2 others sets of curtains from two major department stores. (one starts with "S" the other with a "K") These curtains were mid-range between both stores in terms of price, but the quality is superior! I have 2 large sliding glass doors that face West, so as the winter winds started to blow, I needed a solution. When this product arrived, I immediate loved the color and texture. When I hung them up, they definitely blocked out more light than the other ones I had tried. I can already tell a difference in the reduction of cold air that used to enter my living room. I never know what to think of these ratings when I read them. It's hard to order curtains without seeing them first. After shopping around, I had to leave a comment and highly recommend these.

    • Good Product & Great Value
      Verified Purchase

I liked these curtains enough to buy them for 5 rooms in my home. The feel of the fabric is soft and smooth and they drape nicely. They're not heavy or stiff. I have purchased Chocolate, Beige and Dark Olive. The two darker colors do a great job of blocking light, the Beige not as well but still very good--good enough to use in the room of my day-sleeping shift-worker.(The Beige is not a gold at all but more of a very nice Stone or Antique White color.) We have a room with a wall of large windows and they help a lot with insulating. Before hanging I tossed them in the dryer with a damp cloth for 10-15 min. , hung them up right away, and all wrinkles or folds disappeared.

    • When they say "soft," they mean it.
      Verified Purchase

As someone familiar only with heavy, rubber-backed insulated drapes, I think the manufacturers seriously under-promoted that aspect of this product in the description. I can't believe how soft they are, and how well they hang and drape, nothing like the old insulated curtains. The fabric has a rich feel, but silky smooth, and it completely blocks the light, even direct sunlight. You may have a little light bleed through at the top where the rod is, but the fabric itself is totally, surprisingly, opaque. You can't tell if it's day or night, at least through the fabric. All of us online shoppers know the feeling of buying an item, and, once it arrives, finding out that it somehow doesn't live up to our expectations. This product exceeded my expectations, and will probably go into my Hall of Fame of Great Online Finds. Score one for the shopper!

    • Black Out Curtains
      Verified Purchase

I loved these curtains, but I ordered the gray and they are not gray. They are a smoke blue, they look terrible next to anything that is gray. If you are looking for the gray, do not order them because gray will not be what you get. Other than the color being really off on this one, I really liked the darkening they provided to the room. Seemed to help with outside noise as well. I had to return them and no other color will work for the gray I need.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"Can these curtain be hung with drapery hooks"

      • A:

The first curtains of this fabric had grommets at the top. The last ones I bought just had tabs to thread a rod through. I would think you could use drapery hooks either way.

      • A:

        No, you can't use hooks.

      • A:

i put a rod through the top, but im sure you could make drapery hooks work if preferred (great curtains though)

      • A:

No, these drapes require a rod. You would have to put holes in the fabric to use hooks. I don;t think it will work. These drapes are too nice to ruin.

      • A:

The one I bought appears to be made for use with a rod.

      • A:

These drapes are made to use a pole that inserts into a pocket along the top edge. If you want to use drapery hooks, they would have to the kind that can clip on to the top edge of the drape. I hope this helps.

      • A:

104 is what it says in description. I did not measure them myself

      • A:

Each panel is 51 inches - I ordered 2 sets for my patio sliding doors and it covers very well - very full. They are very thick and look great!

      • A:

Each panel is 52" wide or 104" wide when the panels are pulled together.

      • A:

        52 inches per each panel.

      • A:

        A deep red

"I'm looking for Sage color curtains. These Artichoke/Olive color curtains look like a Sage color on my computer screen. Can you tell me if they are a Sage green or more of an Olive green? Thanks."

      • A:

They are actually Sage in person... lighter than they look in the photo. I have been thrilled with this purchase, green is hard to find online and I was very happy to find they are a soft Sage Green :-)

      • A:

The color in picture is different than what you will receive I ordered the wine hoping it would look like a wine color and it does but the picture looks bright red. Good thing is if you don't like them there is plenty of store around to return and their returns are quick and easy

      • A:

Sorry was thinking was a different store returns are easy but not alot of stores around

      • A:

These curtains are sage or beige. I have not noticed any green tint in them. They are exactly what I thought I ordered and go with my furnishings beautifully.

    • Q:

"Tan not pictured. How does it compare to Beige?"

      • A:

I bought the tan, it is NOT off-white. It is more of a beige. I was pleasantly surprised with the color. It is a warm tone, and they look very nice.

    • Q:

"I am looking mainly to insulate my patio from wind and cold during the winter. How much wind and cold insulation do these provide?"

      • A:

I have not done a quantitative assessment of the curtains, but I have 8 large windows on a front porch; I live in the northeast. I have had a few insulating curtains in the past (including the less aesthetic ones with the white backing). These curtains were stylish and soft and performed just as well in terms of insulating as the the fabric-backed, padded ones. That being said, you are still going to need to heat areas where the curtains are being used if temps dip into the 30 degree F or below range. Overstock has a great return policy so if you try them and find they are not for you, return them.

      • A:

I bought these mainly for light blocking, but they are great insulators, hot and cold. We live in northern Nevada and our west facing windows keep our bedroom very hot in summer. This year it is much better when I close these during the day. We have been down to the 20s since getting these and they were great then too. Highly recommend.

      • A:

I can't tell you in degrees or wind speed but can tell you that the whole house (800 sqft) is a lot cooler during the summer heat (up to 112°F some days with winds to 30MPH) and much warmer in winter (snow and ice for 2 weeks this winter and only a wood burning stove to heat). Of course this is with the doors shut but all doors and windows are single pane and most likely over 50 years old and leaky.

      • A:

We used these on bedroom windows in the Sierras of CA at 8000 ft. They provide good cold insulation and maximum heat retention, and did a good job of blackout for late sleepers during the summer.

      • A:

Depending on how large (area) a patio you are looking to insulate length/width, you"ll have to measure; however these thermals are awesome and will work well. You might want to order enough (they're relatively inexpensive for the quality material) wherein they will overlap, or at least drape close enough without leaving gaps. It will be very dark..(I purchased eggplant, love 'em) depending on the color you choose. Good Luck..as noted by other purchasers, return and try again. Overstock won't mind :). It's a matter of your convenience.

      • A:

These work great as blackout drapes and also help with noise-reduction, but I don't think they would help much at all for any kind of insulation.

    • Q:

"Are the curtains lined? Are they the same color on both sides?"

      • A:

Hi, 1) Yes, they are the same color on. both sides. 2) No, they are not lined but since they are a fairly heavy weight fabric you don't really need them to be in order to achieve a very dark room. I have the Artichoke/Olive Green in our theater/television/media room (that gets direct/full sun all day) and these make it virtually pitch black in there (not to mention a good 10/15 degrees cooler). I also have these in Beige in the bedroom- with the same results- perfect for those of us that work night shifts and want a very dark room for sleeping.

      • A:

Thank you, oneangelsmiles, for your response. The information you provided is very helpful. We are seeking something with insulating properties, but that has a similar appearance on both sides, since both sides will be visible in the way we will be using them. Thanks again!

      • A:

As above comment, same color on both sides. No need for a lining. Great soft material that completely blocks the light. I bought beige for several rooms and cannot believe how well they block the sun. This is a good deal.

      • A:

      • A:

This has two options for hanging, grommet and back tab.

      • A:

I believe these would be best hung on a decorative rod. Not sure you would be happy with pins since fabric is not reinforced enough to take the pins.

"I am looking for curtains that block from seeing into my room at night when the light is on. Will these work?"

      • A:

I have 2 pairs of these drapes in dark solid colors and a pair of light colored drapes. I love the dark colored ones. They would block anyone from seeing into your room. The weave of the cloth is very tight. I don't think the light ones would work as well, because they let some light into the room. By the way, they wash beautifully!

      • A:

Hello heralday, thank you for shopping with us. Yes these will also work as privacy curtains. Have a nice day.

      • A:

YES! I put them in my bedroom and liked them so well I have gotten them for nearly every room in my house. The only rooms that don't have them have windows too small, and don't need black out curtains. The only light coming in comes round the edges, since they don't touch the wall, but that could be easily corrected.

      • A:

I have 3 pairs by now - yes they will 100% block out any view from either side - they are greT quality - fall very nicely - wash great too ...
