  • The time was worth it

This took forever to put together, almost 4 hours, but I have to say it was worth it. Very solid piece that looks great and fits together really well. There were a few pieces that were scratched, but Overstock was great and re-sent the parts we needed. I would definitely purchase again.

  • Make sure you use power tools and lots of patience

I've been looking for a linen armoire for several months. I considered a number of online and retail furniture options, however I had a limited budget for this purchase. The concept of $1800 to house linens does not make a great deal of sense. I considered another product from Wayfair.com who offers on site assembly services for a nominal fee. However, the Wayfair.com product was really over our budget. I made the selection of the Aristo based on a number of reviews which considered it a quality pre-fab furniture piece for the price. The reason I'm rating the Aristo Armoire 3 stars is as follows: 1) Don't kid yourself into believing you can assemble this product with a regular Phillips scew driver as stated in the instructions; make sure you have a power screwdriver and a tool which can prep the wood for the installation of screw holes--my husband used a small screw driver for certain pieces that did not come with pre-drilled holes; 2) The instructions and the pre-drilled holes of the product don't always coincide; for example, the two side panels of the upper cabinet were supposed to have two holes drilled toward the FRONT of the panels to support door hanging hardware. The actual panels that arrived had the mounting hinge holes drilled in the REAR of the cabinet (pictured). This meant that you had to create the hinge holes toward the front of the side panels to install the hinges were no holes existed in order to hang the doors. Scrutinize the instructions relative to the actual pieces which arrive to insure you catch errors like this before you are 3/4ths of the way through the assembly process. 3) Hanging the doors, assembling and inserting the drawers : due to our issues with the missing drill holes for the door hanging hardware, the experience of hanging the doors was frustrating. My husband and I worked on this project together; we had to create holes in the cabinet panels to hang the hardware It took 2-3 tries to hang each door. Additionally, we found inserting the drawers using the glider brackets was very tricky. The instructions will show you how to install the brackets on the drawers, however, we discovered the four drawers are not all interchangeable with the lower frame drawer openings. We had difficulty extracting the drawers in a couple of instances while we were completing this project. Watch out for scratches on the surfaces! 4) Drawer brackets -- make sure you have the correct drawer bracket parts in the correct position (two holes on top, rollers on bottom) when you install the drawer brackets on the vertical piece separating the two drawer sections; we had to remove the brackets and re-install them. The instructions are not clear on that aspect of the assembly. Ugh... 5) Surface scratches - did I say, watch out for scratches during assembly? Watch out and insure you protect the product exterior surfaces ; the dark brown color will easily show scratches. I will have to invest in a furniture scratch remover for a couple of the drawer faces which my husband and I were struggling with inserting in the proper openings as outlined in #3 above. All in all would I do this over again?--probably not without a professional who could have knocked this out in a few hours with power tools. My husband and I are by no means expert woodworkers...far from it. He's the one who talked me into working on this as a family project--yes, we are still married and have added the Aristo armoire to our home.

  • Beautiful piece of furniture.

This was quite the project to put together and took probably close to four hours for two of us with a drill. I could not imagine doing it without the drill. The finish is rich and glossy. The drawers are roomy. I am using it for my TV and my 32" flat screen fits nicely with quite a bit of room to spare.

  • Difficult to Assemble

Sturdy piece and looks pretty good--I do really like the option for either a hanging bar or shelves--or even media. The assembly was a pain and the piece is super heavy. Probably took three of us three hours and power tools to complete and we may have ended up with some parts backwards.

  • Heavy, tall, imposing wood armoire
    Verified Purchase

The four boxes it came in had footprints all over them--one bottom side piece was slightly cracked despite being well-packed but I used it anyway. I assembled it by myself a little at a time over a full week. The instructions can be kind of confusing because it isn't organized logically by section--top, bottom, drawers, and doors. There are a few extra screws--at least one of every type but I was missing all 4 locking washers. Luckily I had some on hand. Overall--tedious assembly, HEAVY (300 lbs?) to lift when assembled, and reasonable functionality.

Nice real wood. The drawer sides were not as good as the rest of the armoire but ok. Very heavy piece of furniture and the finish nice.

I love the rich, dark brown color of this armoire. I put it in my bedroom and it looks great in the corner. My 15 year old son put it together and it did take him a few hours, but it was worth it! Looks great!

  • Beautiful
    Verified Purchase

I bought this to be used in my office about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I love it. I get lots of comments about the beauty and functionality of this piece. The only thing I'm not happy about is this...in the winter one door doesn't close and a couple of drawers don't close. I think it may have something to do with the humidity/dryness level in my office. I don't know. Other than that, the piece is perfect for how I'm using it. I put the armoire together by myself and had no time restraints. I took my time and enjoyed the process. It would have gone faster if I had had help. Still, I like it very much.

  • Heavy piece
    Verified Purchase

This is a very heavy piece of furniture. The instructions were lame. It takes at least 2 people to put it together. There are too many dowels, it took redoing them with wood glue and letting it set overnight for it to be sturdy. Otherwise, following the instructions and using more dowels than screws left it very wobbly. You have to have an enormous amount of space in order to get it put together. The instructions have you put the top together first and then the bottom. Then you have to lift the very heavy top onto the bottom and match up the screw holes. Once it's together it is a nice piece, but it was a pain to assemble due to the instructions.

  • Finally assembled and love it
    Verified Purchase

I bought this along with 2 side tables which I use for bedside tables. (The nightstands were sold out by the time I ordered.) We were not ready to assemble this unit until just last week. It sat in boxes for a couple of months actually. It was packaged perfectly. No damage or missing parts. In fact, there were extra parts in the hardware kit which is rare. It was easy to assemble. I did most of the assembly myself until I needed extra hands to put big pieces together. The doors feel sturdy as do the drawers. No pressed wood at all, which is great! It's a beautiful dark brown too.

  • Difficult assembly, but looks good in the end
    Verified Purchase

I had read other reviews and knew that this piece would take a while to assemble so I was prepared for that, but it was still more difficult than I had anticipated. It took about 12 hours or so total I would guess - my husband and I worked on it for a few hours every evening and it took about a week. The directions weren't clear at times and we had to go back and take apart and reconstruct a few pieces. We also had a couple of pieces mislabeled, but luckily was able to figure it out relatively easily. A few of my drawers still stick, and one scratched pretty badly during assembly as another reviewer had mentioned. One more thing - this piece comes with SO MUCH packing. I filled 5 garbage bags with the styrofoam alone, not to mention all of the boxes I had to break down for recycling. At the end of the day, yes it looks nice and for the price will serve it's purpose just fine. Would I do it all again? Probably not.
