A toaster is a simple appliance, and this one checks off all the necessary features. There are no frills here, it performs well, and comes at a good price, to boot. 1. Slot Size I can fit any normal piece of bread and most bagels and buns (cut in half, of course). If you're toasting huge slices of bread they may get a little cramped, but the metal guides within the slots will keep any bread from burning. 2. Speed It takes about as long as you'd expect to get the right level of doneness. As with any toaster, it will take longer to perform as it gets older. But I know what I'll get out of it, and that's all I need. 3. Ease of Use The shade selector knob is easy enough, and it's nice that the Cancel button is front and center. I haven't used the Frozen or Bagel functions yet. Instead I use common sense to set the proper amount of toasting time for whatever I'm making. 4. Cord The cord is short, as it is with any appliance (they're required legally to be that short). And it does come out of the front of the toaster, but you can always wrap it around the cord wrap underneath to have it come out the back. 5. Crumb Tray The crumb tray drops down rather than sliding out all the way. I prefer the latter, but this toaster is light enough and easy to move around so the drop-down style isn't a setback. It's easy to clean off.
Great oven! Great experience with Overstock. My first purchase and I made a mistake - they went above and beyond and followed up on the fix. Very, very impressed with customer service! Oven arrived in 3 days, hard to explain how great it is (and the quality feel, which is why we chose this over the Breville). We have all KitchenAid appliances, major and small, and love them and their performance but we were really on the fence between this and the Breville. Let's face it, this is a lot of money for a countertop oven and I wanted to be sure it was worth it. In my opinion, it is. We plan to use this much more than our wall ovens. The first time I used the convection feature I thought it was broken (like our old Krups did...just after the warranty expired), but it's just that quiet! We have a convection wall oven and a convection microwave that are loud by comparison. Very even cooking, toasting, broiling! Love all the settings and they seem to really work! Made a couple of splattery meals in it already and was worried about it getting dirty (I'm a freak about new things looking brand new for a long time), but the walls and elements seem to almost magically make soils disappear - didn't even have to wipe down. The crumb tray removes and its nonstick coating (similar to the walls) wipes clean sooo easily! Pleasant surprise was that the interior was a little bigger than I was expecting. Such a great replacement for our Krups convection countertop oven that never lived up to expectations! Tip: lift up slightly in the oven and you can store the included pan and broiling rack discreetly on the countertop underneath ; )
