I have had my brew n'go for 25 years. Yes 25 yrs old used every single day and have packed it for all vacations. Today it broke and I am just sad. Although I certainly cannot complain that's for sure. I received this as a Christmas gift from my Mom in 1992. Truthfully I really never thought I would use it. Boy was I wrong. Fortunately about 4 yrs ago I picked one up for this day when the poor old thing wore out. The filter basket gave out LONG ago. I use coffee filters and no isssues. I knew the replacements are available but paper filters work just as well. A Kurieg are you crazy? This is hands down better than that will ever be. Thanks Black & Decker for this great product.
I purchased this little guy due to cafe visits burning holes in my pockets... It is so easy to use! Just unscrew the top from the bottom, pop out the filter funnel, (gets stuck sometimes, so I normally tip out into a paper towel lined bowl) fill the bottom part with fresh water, replace the filter and fill with ground coffee, I usually use a teaspoon to fill up the filter then pat it evenly very gently, if you pack it in too much, the water will have a hard time brewing through. Then screw on the top and you are ready to fire it up... I personally have a coil electric stovetop, so if I am not in a morning rush, I put in on a 4 setting and it brews for exactly 25 minutes, if I am in a rush, I will crank up the temp to the 8 setting and watch it, it brews alot quicker, but you kinda gotta stay with it to remove it from the heat asap because the bottom of the brewer will no longer have liquid in it and could damage it. Then I pour into a mug with warmed milk and any flavoring/sweetners for my own made latte. I admit, it doesnt deliver the flavor of shots of properly pulled espresso shots, but it is much better than plain old brewed coffee... I do however use ground espresso roast coffee, so that helps, but you can use whatever ground coffee you choose :) The only con is that the brewer has to fully cool before you can disassemble to clean/or make another batch. Saves me lots of $$$ on lattes! Lol :) And the shiny metallic red color was what sold me on this particular one, goes with all the things in my kitchen! Pick this guy up if you need an afforadable/easy way to make espresso...
