  • Discounted for a Reason

I had been shopping for a patio umbrella, and was discouraged by the quality in stores. Finally I went to a high end store that sells this California brand. It was almost double the cost that I found here. So when I found it on Overstock, it seemed like a great deal. I figured it was a discontinued color, hence the discount. It is advertised as having Sunbrella material. When shopping, I saw the Sunbrella label on any material that was theirs, even on other manufacturers' products. It is not on this material. The color is solid, not textured as is looks in the close up. But I'm Ok with that. But when we pulled the umbrella out of the box, the top piece (finial?)was cracked. I believe i read another review that reportedthe same problem. Because the piece is decorative, and basically out of view, we fixed it with tape and went ahead & used the umbrella. We've been using it 2 weeks, really like the crank and tilt features. I hope I can get a replacement part for the top.

This is quality umbrella. Color matches website. The Overstock website did not mention the brand of umbrella which would have been helpful when trying to decide what umbrella to buy. This is a California Umbrella which is not top quality umbrella but pretty good. Looks sturdy. Has the advertised quality sunbrella fabric. It's always convenient to have the tilt mechanism. But since it's an 11 foot umbrella-- be sure to get a sturdy, heavy base in order to keep it up. I would recommend 110 pound base. A 90 pound base would work in most circumstances unless gets windy.
