I had been looking for a storage cabinet but wanted it to look more like furniture than storage unit. No luck at ***, so I thought I'd give the Altra Brookline Altralock Cabinet a chance. When the item came the box looked pretty beat up. The light weight cheap styrofoam was cracked and shredded and made a huge mess everywhere. It is a heavy large item and DIY furniture, so I expected the bits of rough edges or little chips, and there were many. But one of the main sides had a huge crack. There was also no instructions included. Overstock customer service was apologetic and was able to get me a pdf of instructions the next day, but after 5 days of trying to communicate with the manufacturer they informed me that they were unable to ship just a replacement piece and would have to ship an entire replacement and I could return the unused parts. I knew that it was a longshot that it would come intact, but decided to give it a try. They shipped it 2 day air this time, but no luck. The packaging was damaged and the main piece I needed had a huge gouge in it. There were several pieces broken including one smaller piece cracked in half. So now I had two large super heavy boxes to attempt to pack up and return. Customer service was excellent, but I'm disappointed. The overall quality of this DIY furniture isn't as nice and sturdy as ***, and for sure it has insufficient packaging for shipping. As someone with packaging design experience, the packaging was wholly incapable of shipping this size and weight for any distance more than 10 miles in a truck. Overstock should stop carrying this item until they redesign their packaging. Buyer beware!

I don't know who is at fault- but the box came dented and barely together. I unwrapped everything and I will be picking up the white Styrofoam things for DAY! Now thankfully, I was planning on painting this piece anyway so I am able to cover/fix all the torn pieces and dents with a little DIY help- but for the amount of money I spent I shouldn't have to do all of that. This piece is overpriced for what you get and the condition you get it in- be prepared to spend money/time either fixing the broken pieces or shipping stuff back. Overall- it is the size I needed and looks nice after I fixed everything but I could have rented a truck and found something from a yardsale and had the same result for less money.
