We purchased two of these ionic purifiers to replace older models. They were significantly cheaper than the current sharper image models, but certainly do the job as advertised.
It's small and have it placed on the floor in my den...I can feel the coolness of air circulation from my recliner. I like it that its quiet and easy to clean without having filters you have to buy...easy rod cleaning which saves you money. Worth the money....I compared it to my Ionic Breeze Quadra that no longer works but paid way less....worth the money! Thanks Overstock for providing an array of selections to choose from....
I have 3 set up in my house with 3 Sharp Plasma Clusters. I'm trying to get rid of 2 IQAir health pro compacts that are just too loud and the pre-filter costs too much to replace every 6 mo. I didn't own the legacy Winix 5300, but from what I can tell this is pretty much the same thing with a smaller footprint, and to me, a more attractive minimalist design. Should also be able to use the cheaper Fellowes AP-300PH filters. The part number in the manual is 115115, same as the legacy unit. These things are amazing. Results from my Dylos laser particle counter were fantastic. 0 particle count at the exhaust. It generally keeps the purifier on the lowest setting in automatic. The count was 9 small particles, and 1 large one. Anything below 75 is excellent, and below 300 is good. The Sharps + IQAir on full blast would get pretty low, but not that low and you couldn't stand to be in the house. After living with the units for a week, they do need to be kicked up manually periodically as the sensor is not triggering on dust. I do it when we leave the house. I don't have a way to see how it does with VOC's, so I can't say how it holds up to a full size IQAir with a V5 odor and gas cell, but I'm not going to miss my IQAir compact that doesn't have that capability what so ever. The fan in the dylos is louder than the Winix on its lowest setting.
After reading several reviews I decided to try the ionic pro and thankful to those who posted their opinions. I found within an hour the bedroom was noticably different. We heat the house during the winter with a pellet stove which was much more obvious to me when I came back out of the bedroom. I am seriously thinking of buying another for the living room.
