Cyrus the Great 580-529 BCE is an iconic figure in the history of mankind. He was the first king to be referred to as The Great and belonged to the Achaemenid Dynasty, which had ruled the Persian kingdom of Anshan for several generations. Cyrus was the son of Cambyses the elder, the vessel Persian king of the Median Empire called Ansan, and Mandana, the Median princess, daughter of Astyages. His name Cyrus a transliteration of the Greek Ko is the Greek version of the Persian Koroush or Khorvash meaning Like the sun, in which khour means sun and vash is a suffix of similarity. This bronze sculpture of Cyrus the Great is a magnificent piece of art, cast using the ancient Lost Wax Method and stained with a brown patina finish for preservation.
