This rug looks regal, with the raised pattern with cream and slate blue. We bought this for our master which has cream on the walls and the bath has grey paint, so this is the perfect mix of cream and grey for our transitional style.. The pattern is clear, and it doesn't have a distressed/vintage look like some of the other rugs on the market today (I don't like those because they sometimes look like there was a design error). The viscose fibers make for a VERY soft touch, and this rug is thin enough to keep clean with a dog in the house.
The size is fantastic. The extra foot from the typical 8x10 to this one being 8x11 makes a big difference in our living room. The colors are gorgeous and vibrant, but not too bright or tacky looking. I love the vintage and distressed look, as it goes with our furniture style but also seems like it would hide stains easily. It rolled out quickly. I had to put chairs on the corners for 24 hours to keep the ends from curling, but it flatten quickly. Overall a great buy, and a very unique and pretty rug.
I agree with reviewers who say the rug is darker than in the photos. For example, in the photos, the yellows are definitely lighter and more vibrant. On my rug, the yellows are more muted and closer to a darker "mustard" color. Actually, I prefer the more subdued colors of my rug than those in the photos -- and, when I ordered the rug, I was hoping that the previous reviewers were correct. The more subdued colors give the rug an older, vintage quality, and they do tend to complement the colors of the room and our furniture. I can see this rug working well with various decorating styles -- and the mix of colors cannot help but liven up the feeling of almost any decor. As for quality . . . top grade. The rug is relatively thick, with a dense weave, and well-crafted. The style is classic; the seller calls it "heritage, timeless, traditional," and I would agree. As for value . . . outstanding (assuming you get a price similar to what I paid). Shop around to confirm, online or in a Big Box store, just to be sure, since the price can fluctuate. A number of reviewers warn that the rug (made of wool) sheds. I assume we can expect the same, although it hasn't happened yet. The rug arrived at our house within a few days of ordering it. It was rolled around a heavy cardboard tube and protected by two layers of heavy-duty plastic. After one day of "breathing" in the open air, outside of its protective wrapping, the new-rug odors were gone. Obviously, I am pleased with the purchase -- and I hope this information is useful.
I was a little apprehensive in buying a rug online but I'm pleased to say it is exactly what I was looking for. It has a vintage look without the vintage smell or damage at a great price.
