I ordered this tug and was happy with it initially. Recently I purchased a rug pad that is 10x14' and found that It was tye correct size. So I measured everything and cut what was needed for my supposed 10X 13' rug. WRONG! This rug is actually 12' 9" X 9' 10". Therefore, I cut my rug pad wrong and hade to cut it AGAIN! This sounds like a small inconvenience, but try it t woth a 3 yr old and an 18month old running around constantly trying to jump on it as you are measuring/cutting. I do like the rug, but I do feel shorted! In reality, I was shorted about 4.5". That is a lot to get shorted! Just be warned if you purchase this item. Everything except the size is great about this item, which is why I gave it only 3 stars.
We purchased this rug in the 6x9 and liked it so much we purchased the 10x14 for our family room. Since it almost looks like two different rugs depending on the direction, you have a choice to have a brighter/lighter or darker/richer vibe. We have one rug on cream carpet with the lighter vibe and the other rug on walnut floors with the darker vibe and they both look great. The subtle dusty blue tones (light and dark) are why the rugs work so well in our home. If you don't want any blue then this may not be the rug for you. There is also a bit of taupe to the two grey tones which also work well for us. The rugs are made well and arrived very quickly to SoCal.
No matter where you go on the internet, this carpet has very good reviews. I was so drawn to the look of it and thought I'd take a chance. Well, it's really quite spectacular when you consider the price. It's not really a true shag but it's not low pile. It's somewhere in between, which I think is perfect for me, and I don't think it requires a rug pad. I purchased the 8'6" x 12' for my bedroom, but as I'm waiting on something before I go through moving my bed, I laid it out in my living room to make sure I liked it before the window of returns closes. This revealed two things: 1. Just as I suspected, I need/want a 10x14 for my living room, and B) I like it so much that I will miss it in my living room. (It's definitely better for my bedroom, but it's going to be a tough act to follow.) The first picture (no furniture), was taken during the day in low light, without flash. The second was taken at night with flash. One last thing: Some people are adamant that the center of the ogee is gray, while others are adamant that it's brown. It's both. It's a gray-toned brown as opposed to a true cool gray or a warm/red brown. It's dark taupe. Needless to say, I highly recommend this rug.
