Story Behind the Art:-
Hello, my name is Pravez A Warsi and I was born on 9th Aug 1954 in the colorful city of Agra where beauty starts and culminates at one of the world's wonders "Taj Mahal". I have a very old relation with the art of handicrafts. It all started when my ancestors begun stitching royal clothing for the kings, queens, prince and princess. As time passed by I got myself into tailoring but not stitching clothes for the royals but for the general publics. This is how I started my work of art. Then, I joined my brother-in-law who was into manufacturing decorative items with embroidery motifs. I worked with him from 1974 and helped him for almost 8 years. In 1982, I started my own workshop of crafting handicrafts like gift items, wall hangings, evening bags etc with embroidery work. During this time I was still involved in designing and stitching dress with embroidery motifs. I was personally involved in making the products until recently. Today, I have about 140 workers working with me. We all work together creating new ides and designs. Our products are basically designed based on the taste of our customers but we also design ourselves. It's been a very long journey for me in the field of handicrafts and I during this time I have learnt a lot. Every day is a new experience for me and with each experience I learn more about my work and my profession. I have very big dreams as far as my work is concerned. I have displayed my products in many exhibitions within and outside India like New York, San Francisco, Germany, Tokyo, Thailand etc. and it was all together a great experience for me. The response from my customers has been overwhelming. Recognition is one of the most important points to show appreciation of your work and to prove your ability and I am glad to mention that the Uttra Pradesh Government has been kind enough to appreciate my work of Art and honouring me with the Small Scale Industry Award. Besides, I have also received award from the San Francisco for excellence in handicraft.
