PROS —Sturdy —Compacts easily —Hidden brake lines —Attractive design —Quality materials CONS —Heavy —Storage limited, inconveniently located —Less ideal for indoor use —Seat not entirely comfortable —Too much space between handles and brake release Even with my substantial list of cons, I could not give this rollator anything less than 4 stars. Yes, the Nitro DLX Euro Style Walker Rollator is almost 10 pounds heavier than the classic rollator my mother has been using for the past several years. And, yes, the handbrakes are at a greater distance from the handles, requiring her to remove her hands entirely from the handles just to release the brakes, unlike her previous rollator, which simply allowed her to rest her palms securely on the handles while using her fingers to release the handbrakes. It seems the rollator fixes one problem but creates another. The large wheels that are ideal for tackling the tough terrain outdoors seem a bit bulky for our carpeted place indoors, where my mother spends most of her time. Also, while the extension of these large wheels ensure a sturdy support, they can encumber accessibility to objects within forward reach. YET, compared to most other rollators I’ve seen, Drive’s Nitro Euro Style is the Mercedes of its field when it comes to aesthetics and innovation. The sleek, modern design definitely reduces that medical, or elderly, stigma that is easily associated with standard walkers. And, for me as the caregiver in particular, the ability to fold it in one easy step — just lift the handle in the center of the seat and the entire frame compacts — has made traveling with my mother a bit less demanding, despite the heavier weight when lifting the rollator into the car. My mother, of course, likes the sturdiness of her new “ride,” as she calls her rollators. The deduction of the star is primarily due to the storage. The storage beneath the seat of my mother’s former ride, which was like her trunk space, allowed her to transport small items from one room to the next, and could be accessed simply by lifting up the padded seat. Not to mention that the flat seat enabled her to carry her tray of food to the table without spillage (the seat on the Nitro DLX is rounded). But the smaller storage bag of the Nitro Euro Style forces her to lean farther over to store/retrieve items, which poses a significant challenge for someone whose equilibrium is already insecure. I hope Drive will continue to improve upon this model to help an aging and health-challenged community who longs for better products.
At first I was intimidated by the size of the box, but encouraged that the assembly process had been so easy on the 3 wheel Rollator, that I tackled it by myself. Surprise, surprise. Pull it out of the box and it is ready to go, without any assembly whatsoever. Thanks!!! I needed that!!!!I often travel by Uber so this light weight, yet stable, unit is easy to fold in the center and put into either the back seat or the trunk. Uber drivers like it. Many raves and notices about this DRIVE Rollator Walker. So glad I bought it!!!!
My wife has four or five walkers. The rollator type with a seat, older style aluminum with tennis balls, etc. This is by far the easiest for her to place and remove from the var. It folds easily. She doesn't use the basket or tray. The pouch is mroe than enough storage for her purse, etc.
