I purchased this flat iron because it has dual voltage. It heats up quickly and gets very hot, but doesn't seem to straighten as quickly as the one I use in the states. If you go over the same strand several times, it does do the job.
I previously had a Chi straightener for over 6 years which would have lasted me forever, except I overloaded the voltage while traveling abroad (please use the proper 110V! An adapter will not do the trick when the voltage is at 240 - you need a transformer). I bought this one as a replacement, and ordered the "Original" in order to recreate the sturdiness, simplicity, and quality of my previous Chi. Since it said Original, I thought it would likely be the same model. However, this model is lighter and of less sturdy construction than my previous version, which had less of a plastic feel and look to it. Other than that, it works great! It does not bother me that it looks cheaper, because it really is the same instrument and does the same job. I recommend it.
I had this dryer for nearly two years after a hairstylist recommended it. It worked well--super high heat and got my hair fairly straight using a round brush (naturally curly hair). After ruining the first dryer while traveling abroad (which was my fault--voltage issues despite using the right converter), I bought a replacement here on Overstock. The second one randomly crapped out this morning in the middle of drying my hair after only six months of use. I contacted Overstock customer support, thinking the product would still be under warranty--but there is no manufacturer warranty for this product via Overstock. Great hair dryer while it lasted but expensive for six months of use. Buy at your own risk.
This product is lite weight, small but carries a big punch. It is powerful. The only problem I had was to figure out how to change the voltage but once I did it was easy. I hope to have many years of fun travel with this product
