This was the best deal I could find for these cold packs that hospitals usually supply for the new moms to use to reduce swelling after giving birth. With just a pop and a shake you have instant cold in an absorbent pad about the size of a large menstrual pad. If you have some left over, just use them in place of a traditional ice pack, like for a sore neck or sprained ankle.
Good size, flexible. The 5" x 10" size just fits inside a gallon plastic zip type bag. You can fit in two for larger areas like your back. The gel makes them flexible for use on different areas of the body, yet they get cold enough to use to keep food or medicine cold during transport. Good size cold pack for the wrist or head, too. I use them mainly as cold packs, but I gave two to a friend with back problems, she uses them hot or cold as needed and likes the flexibility of the gel rather than as a solid piece.
I have a bad back, and use ice frequently to relieve pain. Riding in the car for more than a few minutes and some regular daily activities cause me pain. These packs are durable and I carry some with me in the car at all times. They numb quickly and it seem to me better than refrigerator ice packs. They last about 15-20 minutes, so they keep me within the 20-25 guidelines for ice therapy.
