This little thing is amazing! I have moderate Sciatica pain, which can make life a real downer sometimes, not to mention my job difficult! Well I just got this in the mail. I played around with it for a while, and found that placed in just the right area (sorry to be blunt, but right on the butt), on a fairly strong burst setting, it really helps. It helps the nerve pain a fair bit, and is absolutely amazing on my tense muscles (the muscles in my lower back all the way down my legs can be like rocks after a long day when my nerve is acting up). OTC pain killers never did much, and my heating pad only went so far, and is very uncomfortable to use as the weather gets warmer. But the TENS 7000 is like a god send. My impression on quality? Well it's not the best of the best. It also doesn't cost as much as a used car. I'd give it a solid medium quality rating. Despite what some have said, this doesn't appear to be a cheaply made device. Yes, it's plastic. But it's also heavy and well put together, even for plastic. Other things to note. It does, in fact, come with a battery, 4 electrodes, two set of leads, and instructions.. These were all things I found hard to distinguish from the listing. Size is a bit misleading in the ad as well. It looks fairly sizable, but really it's smaller than one of those old walkmans. Around the same size (but obviously much thicker) of an Ipod classic. This is not a deterrent or negative in my opinion; I wanted a small unit. In terms of portability, this product is ideal. Others have also complained that the power settings and on/off knob is the same switch. I can't really see this being an issue. Just be careful using it. And the device comes with a plastic cover for the area, so if secured properly, accidental knocking shouldn't be a problem. Last, shipping and processing. Overstock took a couple days to process my order, which is fairly standard. In fact, the processing went on so long in my status, continuing into the day of my arrival estimate, I thought there was no way I'd get it when I expected. But I paid for (to the tune of nearly what the device itself cost) the fastest shipping option. Surprise, it was waiting for me when I got home from work. They don't mess around with overnight air delivery O.O. The high price of that shipping option was well worth it to me. Funny thing about pain, you'll happily pay whatever you can afford for relief. So, though this obviously isn't the highest quality TENS device you can buy, but in terms of value for price, I'd call it money well spent. As long as my unit keeps kicking for a couple months, based on how it's made me feel, I'm happy with the value.
I am very happy with this Tens unit. Prior to ordering this unit I had ordered a smaller digital unit from a different website. That unit did not work, nor did the second unit they sent me. I returned those units and decided to go back to the analog style Tens unit similar to one I had about 10 years ago. This unit works perfectly and I am happy at how easy it is to adjust the type of stimulus delivered. The control knobs are covered by a heavy duty flip top so you can't accidentally bump them and deliver a stronger signal than what you set the unit for. I was so pleased with the unit that I loaned it to my daughter after she injured her back. She is so happy with it that she ordered the identical unit for herself.
I didn't want to spend $*** for a TENS Unit, but it was money wasted to buy a cheap one if it didn't work. I read the reviews on this and decided it was worth the chance. I could not be happier. Easy to use, top quality. At least as good, if not better than the one they use in our hospital PT Department.
I went through 8 weeks of physical therapy before my insurance ran out, and EMS treatment was what was providing the best relief for back and hamstring problems. My Dr. suggested I get my own EMS machine. I researched various sites and ordered this one. After four uses, I feel it is providing the same theraputic results of the $200 per session physical therapy work. So this unit paid for itself in the first use. I used it 3 times with AC, and was very happy with the therapy. I also used it once with the battery when I needed to move around, and found that it was equally effective. I don't know how ling the battery will last in this, but that is a nice option. Overall, I rate this a GOOD product. The instructions are not very clear on how to set this, so you may want to have a PT or Dr. suggest the appropriate settings for you. I had watched my PT intently, so I was able to figure out the appropriate settings after a few minutes of trial and error. The instructions need to be reviewed and altered by someone who uses English as their primary languange. So you know: I also bought a US-1000 personal ultra-sound machine. I found it to not work as advertised, so I shipped it back. You can read my review on that product. I rated it POOR. I am not a Dr. nor a PT, but I consider myself an educated user. I am a Masters age-group distance runner.
