As an off and on vegetarian (more on lately), I'm always on the hunt for great veg dishes, and one of my favorite cuisines is Ethiopian. I love going to Ethiopian restaurants, but they're all located about as far east in the city as I am west, so it's not always convenient to go there, so I've been teaching myself to cook many of the dishes I love. One of the key ingredients to the spicy dishes (Wat) is berbere, the blend of various spices, both mundane and exotic. I could probably make my own blend, but i'd end up going to s spice store and probably spend more than I wanted to, so this ready made berbere is perfect! When I ordered it, I thought it was for a 1lb bag, and it turned out to be 2lbs! Well, I'm not going to complain, and I'll probably have it for a while, but for me, that just means I can feel free to make as much yeshimbra assa (spicy chickpea "fish" stew) and mesir wat (spicy red lentils) as I want! This berbere has a great smell and when I tasted it plain, it has quite a nice heat to it, and so far, everything I've cooked with it has turned out delicious. Perhaps not as authentic as my favorite restaurants, but definitely close enough to keep me happy until I can trek down to one of them.
I love spicy foods and this product will give you what you are looking for. But remember to use in moderation since it is made up of various spices.
I used to live in India and could/would love to eat curries every day. I also like Mexican food. This blend has given my cooking a new kick and I have been using it lately for most of the meals I cook. Right out of the bag, it's not so fragrant, I can't identify the spices right away, but with a little salt combined with meat and vegetables it is almost magical. Not so identifiable as one cuisine or another. Just delicious. A little goes a long way, so experiment. A wonderful find!
Very good spices, I added to a potato stew. Has a good kick to it.
Didn’t love this! I was curious, but the flavor is not for my family. It’s still sitting on the pantry!

This is absolutely delicious. Only problem was the package wasn't sealed, and half of it had spilled out into the envelope it came in.
it was supposed to be from nigeria and i thought i was getting something that i could make suya with - it was actually Ethiopian and didn't resemble anything nigerian - very mild and bland taste more like paprika. i could have bought an american brand Paprika and gotten the same flavor. Bad buy waste of money
This spice if very, very good wish could find it again!
Excellent product it’s my second time buying this wonderful spice I’m more than satisfied
Good to add on any meat so far
