  • Just as it looks Great!

For the price I can't complain the bow was pretty horrible, however a true musician should have others handy. The built in amp is awesome because you don't need a bunch of music equipment to play. The headphone jack make it easy to hook to any speaker.

I bought this for my son for christmas. He has never played violin before but is extremely talented with many other musical instruments including stringed instruments, so instead of paying a couple of hundred dollars on a good quality violin that I wasn't sure if he would stick with, I purchased this package for a starter. He was dissapointed when it didn't make any sound. I took it from him and did some research and now it is working wonderfully. First of all, the rosin needed to be cut with a knife since it was brand new. After that, you could get plenty of sound out of it even without plugging it into an amp. Second, it needed some peg grip which I bought from the music shop for $5 and it works a little too well. Third, the bridge needs to be cut but I did this myself with a carpenter's knife and some sand paper. It's really easy since the violin is flat and the feet of the bridge is flat as well. All that needed to be cut is the corners. It took a steak knife to put the grooves back in and some lead from a pencil helps to keep the bridge from tilting when you tune the strings. The only thing that I was disappointed about with this purchase is that the tailcord kept slipping and the metal piece actually popped off the cord at one point. I had to buy a new tail cord which was $7 and now it's working perfectly. It's definitely not for beginners who expect to take it out of the box and start playing and it is not the best quality considering what you are paying for the whole package but I definitely think it's worth it and I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. The blue color is darker than it appears on this website which i actually prefer. If I had to do it again, I would not purchase this only because my son ended up not liking how this looks. He likes the retro look of a traditional acoustic violin. I used to play violin in middle school and I am loving this.

  • False description
    Verified Purchase

The bridge needed to be cut - which costs $. That should be mentioned in the description. The title and description say Wood electric violin. It is made from plastic 100% apart from the bridge which is uncut beech - the fingerboard is also plastic. The instrument is tacky and the description is not simply misleading but simply not true.

  • Cute pink electric violin, but will not play.

The violin came with no paperwork or instructions. You had to put the bridge on yourself. The strings came loose. Very poor quality for *** at overstock. I love overstock.com and this is one of the worst items I have ever purchased from them. My daughter has played violin for 10 years and she wanted to try an electric violin. But this violin we could not even get to work.

  • Not for beginners

Good package deal at a great price. The only thing is that you need to fit the bridge to the violin and may need professional help for that.

We had to pay $xxxxx at a music store to get the bridge put on. The bridge was not cut correctly. After having that done my daughter loves it.
