I am so pleased with my new Luna Muse Safari guitar, and with the prompt delivery and service from Overstock.com. The guitar is much more than I expected it to be. It has excellent tone, is very attractive, and the action on mine was already perfect when it arrived. I didn't have to adjust anything, and I didn't even have to put on new strings as I thought I would. There is no fret buzz anywhere, and the intonation is surprisingly good, especially for a 3/4 size guitar. Aside from two very tiny blemishes on the back of the guitar, the instrument is in perfect condition. Even the backpack-style gig bag that came with it is serviceable. It is not padded at all, but geez, for the price, I'll do just fine. The only thing I would have liked would have been for Luna to include some sort of documentation... just a spec sheet or something. But other than the little wrench for adjusting the neck (another unexpected feature of this guitar), there is nothing else in the box.. But I am still very impressed. I've been playing Gibsons and Takamines for years, and I have to say that while the Luna is not in their league as a piece of craftsmanship, it can certainly hold it's own in terms of pure fun and playability. And that's exactly what I bought it for, so I'm happy!
I took a chance and ordered this guitar, even though I could find no reviews on this particular model and Pyle guitars in general have very mixed reviews. This particular instrument had excellent wood work, binding, and finishing. The hardware however was not as good, the tuners felt very cheap and seemed to be grinding internally when you adjusted them, and the nut was very porous (visible to the naked eye). The bridge, resonator cover and sound hole covers had rough edges which really gave away the low price of this instrument, and they all had a sticky residue on them in various spots. I did not take the resonator apart, as there were no rattles once it was tuned. It does however have a spider and appears that it was setup well before shipping. It tuned right up (all strings were exactly two octaves low, as if it had been de-tuned for shipping), and played okay though it would benefit from new strings and a good nut. The neck was straight, frets appeared to be level and tight but in need of polishing, and the action was medium to low. I ended up sending it back after much thought, the poorly stamped metal was more than I wanted to deal with. But, if you are wanting an entry level resonator that is playable and you are not afraid to spend some time and a bit of money on it you can end up with a good guitar. BTW, I didn't try the electronics on it so I cannot comment on them.
